JRB14
The fact that he said summarized the season with full accuracy(excepting the fact that ''they could have done something special if they beat the frickin' Browns) while he was gassed makes me think this is a load of BS. The only part I don't totally agree with is the specific fixation on wanting Tony Dungy, but it still applies because we thought we were gonna hire a mega-coach, not the guy who made Syracuse football not awful. JRB14
The specific fixation on Dungy lied over here in Detroit, when everyone wanted Dungy to replace Schwartz. I even wanted him, but not now. Just not Schwartz or Caldwell. Anyone else...

Cosmic
I know I'm a little late to the game, but HOLY HELL have you guys seen the video of Ray Rice literally dragging his unconscious fiancee out of the elevator? It's hard to believe that Michael Sam will be a bigger media circus than Ray Rice this season.

Cosmic
Is there anything more to the deal than just "Jim Harbaugh decided to stay in San Francisco"? Seems like it can hardly be considered to have "almost" happened when the stumbling block was that the coach decided to stay with his team that he took to three straight NFC championships and one Super Bowl, rather than take on the Browns that just fired their coach after one year. BBTV
Are coaches "tradeable" in the same way that players are, or is the "trade" really just the Browns giving the 49ers compensation in exchange for them releasing Harbaugh so that he could sign with them? dfwabel
Wasn't there a "trade" of sorts when Gruden went to Tampa Bay?Yes, as there also was compensation (draft picks) in 2006 when the NYJ let Herm Edwards out of his contract to go to KC. But that and Gruden to TB was under Tagliabue, as opposed to Goodell.EDIT:As for Jim Harbaugh, keep the following things in mind about what he has somewhat "lost" since January 1, 2014 in terms of leverage.1- Even before this past NFL season, he turned down a two-year extension from SF.He makes $5MM/year now, and wanted to be the highest paid coach in the NFL, but now Pete Carroll has already won a Super Bowl in his own division.2- He turned down more money by not taking the University of Texas job. 3- He seems to not be long term at any job. He seems burned out already.4- In 2010, the Seahawks hired former SF GM, Scot McCloughan as Asst. GM. Scot McCloughan was the man who essentially drafted the team 49ers have and the Balke/Harbaugh drafts have not been very good, outside of Aldon Smith.
