Mizzou's Michael Sam comes out

Fact is that most Christians are pro-gay rights. Don't let Fox News try to tell you otherwise.

Plus it's Christian churches wanting to marry gay couples that put the lie to the whole "religious freedom!" nonsense.

Now, the increasingly-small but vocal minority of people who want gay men and women to remain second-class citizens is almost exclusively made up of fundamentalist Christians, but that doesn't make all Christians the enemy.

Don't swallow Fox's idiotic bait. Please.

That's why I'm posting constantly in here. I do not like those that use the Bible as the reason to keep homosexuals and women down. They take the fun out of fundamental. The Episcopalian church of my late father is very pro same sex marriage: The priest married my cousin to her partner two summers ago.

They're not here. They're not gonna read your posts. And again that was not the intent of this thread.

theScore Facebook post: "Michael Sam played like a beast in his NFL debut"

Headline: "VIDEO: Rams' Michael Sam makes tackle in NFL preseason debut"

He finished the game with one tackle and one quarterback hit.

"Like a beast"

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

Cool! I guess that means we'll be featured on ESPN more now than we would've otherwise. Can't complain about that.

Drip, drip, drip. The world marches forward.

Sarafin won't make it to the NFL, but by coming out he's made it less a big deal for the next guy who does.

Yeah I haven't heard much about this story and I think that's a great thing.

We're getting to the point where people are realizing it's not a big deal, nor is it a hinderance to his team or his ability to play a game, and eventually it'll just be another trait listed in the bio like being right-handed or having brown eyes.

My new boss is a gay man and I never think about it and it never gets in the way of the work we do. I don't see why a locker room would be any different. It's amazing how much sexual orientation doesn't matter. I mean that in a good way.

We as a society should be proud of how far we've come, but it's important not to be satisfied and lose sight of how far we still have to go.

Your new mayor is gay; so too is a big chunk of the Seattle City Council. These are things you may not know, because they don't matter in Seattle. Or, that is, they matter, but in a way that people were able to accept and get over a long, long time ago. Homo/heterosexual equality is the expectation in cities like Seattle, and -- on the whole -- it's pretty awesome. You get to save your civil unrest over more important things (like, say, bike lanes and parking rates).

I'm worried my post reads like my boss is the first gay person I've associated with and that's not the case. I'm from Columbus, Ohio after all.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Also parking rates force me to take the bus to work so I'm with you there.

Really though, the only thing that makes some cities better than others for LBGT people is whether or not they're in a state where the urban residents are outnumbered by backwoods rubes who are willing to vote for anti-gay politicians.

But then California in 2008 happened so I don't know.

Not sure how relevant that is in 2014. The same happened in here in 2006, now 55% of Wisconsin is for marriage equality.
