Waffles
From the official press release:The Madison Square Garden Company and the New York Knickerbockers today announced that the company’s new NBA Development League team will be named the Westchester Knicks and unveiled the new team’s logo at a special event at Westchester County Center. The Westchester Knicks, which serves as the exclusive affiliate of the New York Knicks, will debut in the 2014-15 season, playing its home games at the County Center in White Plains, New York. Following the initial announcement on March 10 regarding the new franchise, the Knicks invited fans to help choose the name for the new D-League team by submitting suggestions online. The Westchester Knicks was the popular choice among fans. The new Westchester Knicks logo is a modern interpretation of the New York Knicks original primary logo, used from the inaugural 1946-47 season through 1963-64, which featured a smiling Father Knickerbocker dribbling a basketball, the brainchild of famed sports cartoonist Willard Mullin of the New York World-Telegram. slapshot
Seems about right. The logo comes from a brainchild, and the lettering was drawn from a child's brain. Back-to-Back Fatal Forty Champion 2015 & 2016
mattb6
This is bad. I'll trade the Santa Cruz Warriors and the Westchester Knicks for the Columbus Riverdragons and Arkansas RimRockers any day. The NBA-DL used to be fun, now its just rip-offs of the NBA team that owns it.And that face is creepy as hell.

Soarindude
That is absolutely beautiful. looks like an old NASL logo. Reminds me of the thread in the concepts forum who restores old logos.

Gothamite
It's hideous as it is. But remove the banner, remove the amateurish wordmarks and pointless triangle, and we've got something there. There's a place with the Knicks for a good update of Father Knickerbocker. That, however, is not a good update of Father Knickerbocker. The face doesn't work with the rest of the logo. Looks slapped-on in post. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.

goforbroke
The Father Knickerbocker part is cool ... triangle and lettering is horrendous. Looks like "modern interpretation" = Father K had too much junk in the trunk before, because that and the face are really the only differences. But overall this logo looks like the worst logo in a rec basketball league. It would be laughed out of the Canadien League and the New ABA. Take out the triangle the banner words and just leave the guy and its fine. then just put it in a roundel or something with the ciity and team name around it,Something like this but with the updated Father. hettinger_rl
As more and more teams have taken over or started their own D-League team it has whittled down the amount of teams available to the teams that need an affiliate. In the sports in general thread we've been discussing where those teams that don't have an exclusive partnership could start one and what the name might be. El Scorcho
The concept is okay but the execution is nowhere near it.They should have got ren69 to update the logo and gone from there. The lettering is really awful and the whole thing is a mess

eRay
I want everyone to take some time out of their very busy days and stare at each letter in this logo. Look at each letter 'S'. Compare them. Do the same with 'C'. Look at the 'K' next to the 'R'. This is a giant mess, and we haven't even peeked at the illustration in the middle yet. Or the clipart basketball, or the banner with an uneven bottom stripe. This works as a thumbnail idea for their first round of narrowing things down, but as the final logo it is very lazy. Not a bad idea, but not executed very well.
Discrim
Far as names-the-same affiliates go, given that basketball's still comparatively new at this, I rate Westchester as...the Binghamton Mets, thereabouts. Not as lame of a pale imitation as your garden variety Appalachian League team or most same-named Cubs affiliates ever, but definitely not in the same league as something like the Lakeland Flying Tigers, Daytona Cubs or the old Orlando Cubs (a class I'd put the SC Warriors just below). The idea of an updated Father Knickerbocker was good, but the execution appears to be somewhat lacking. raysox
Same with the FSU logo, if you're gonna update an older logo, why stop half way and make a lateral movement? @MichaelDanger19 | Dribbble
