I think if you stop being a fan after a rebrand, then you were never a real fan.

Sure the Buccaneers update was bad, but that doesn't mean i'm going to stop being a fan.

+1....cant argue with the above statement.

But the players disapear, and then if the team colors and logo also changes, then there is nothing left but a city name

The Pacers, kinda sorta. I was in love with the Miller-era Pacers and was a HUGE fan of the pinstripes era. Once Reggie retired and after the malice in the palace stuff, I stopped paying attention to basketball and with my favorite player retiring and the sport leaving my interest simultaneously, it all coincided with their rebrand to this current boring era of uniforms. I wouldn't say the rebrand made me dislike the team but the rebrand occurred after a time of great change.

I can sympathize with this opinion, but some people are fans of teams not because they're from that city and have been fans all their life, but because of a certain player or a certain look (I made a thread about teams that people cheer for because of a look, and it had a decent amount of pages of response). You can call them bandwagoners, but for me I only consider that true when it's because a team is successful. But hey, I saw Suarez have a fantastic World Cup in 2010 and have been cheering for Liverpool ever since (and only this past season have they really had any success). If they lose Suarez, will I be less inclined to cheer for them? Yup. And so I can see people feeling the same way about uniforms

Uhh, yeah. You kinda can.

I've been a Bucs fan since I was a young kid (hell, just look at my member title), and my interest took an ENORMOUS hit with this current rebrand. Granted, the rebrand deal wasn't the only thing that's soured me on the Bucs (Greg Schiano, Raheem Morris, Greg Schiano, the purchase of Man U, the way Gruden's final season ended, Greg Schiano, trading players like Blount and Talib for seventh round picks along with completely bungling the Revis contract, Greg Schiano) but it's definitely looking like the final straw.

Co-sign...except my tie to the Buccaneers was also strengthened more due to blood...blood which no longer plays there. Don't think I'll ever completely sever my fan-tie, but between all that what DJ just said above and this...whatever you wanna call this rebrand, let's just say that tie is a whole lot thinner now than it used to be.

I didn't stop being a Bucks fan for quite some time until after the Irish Rainbows were gone, but I never cared for the switch to purple. While the current unis are an upgrade over the last, a return to the rainbows might get me to actually care about them again.

Here's the thing, no matter what happens with the Bucs, I plan on staying a fan no matter once. Sure, I hate the new identity of the team. But Instill love the team. I'm just going to hope that, eventually, we change the look again. Ive only been a Bucs fan for "17 years" (got into football when I was around 10 so really 7), but I could never see me changing my support for the team.

But that means you are a fan of the uniforms, not the team, the same way you can be a fan of a player, like people switching from liking the colts to broncos because of Payton manning. Neither were fans of the team which is the point

If you're cheering for a team to win, no matter what reason (your favorite player's on it, they've got uniforms you love), and you cheer for that team for the whole season, then that's being a fan of the team, to me. But these definitions are all subjective, and I can empathize with you when it comes to something like all the recent fans of the Seahawks I've always loved

I grew up in Ft Worth, Texas. So should have been a Cowboys fan, but wasn't, not until Gerry purchased the team, and that begins a rocky relationship.

I know from about 6 or 7 years old I was a Rams fan, I loved Jack Youngblood, Jim Youngblood, Pat Haden, John Cappelletti, Jim "Hacksaw" Reynolds, and loved the uniforms. I don't remember the Blue and White, but remember going to a deeper blue when the team went to Anaheim. And I stayed a fan through good and bad, even the move to St Louis. But those god forsaken Gold and Navy uniforms ruined it for me.

By that time I had become a Cowboys fan... after almost getting my mom and uncle killed at the 76 Rams Cowboys game. I had all the gear, loved my Rams.

That rebrand in St Louis just finally did it in for me.

I cant think of any other rebrand that has soured me like that simple change to gold. I still hate it. Wont even watch a game when they have that crap on. ANd throwback games in proper colors make me long for Dickerson!

Texas Rangers Rebrand to red in 94 was brilliant

Mavericks to Blue and Blue brilliant

Jaguars rebrand love it... save for that f'd up helmet.

I even kind of like the new Bucs look,

These guys...

(70s/80s Seahawks photo)

... were my official "second" when I was a kid. Great logo, great colors, and played in the AFC, so they were never a direct problem for my Vikings.

These guys...

(Current Seahawks photo)

...can disappear off the face of the earth and I wouldn't miss them.

This is similar to how it could work for me. For my favorite teams (see my sig), I like them whether their uniforms are great (inaugural Wild),awful (some editions of Wisconsin basketball), or mediocre (most editions of the Timberwolves). The uniforms have nothing to do with the extent to which I follow these teams and whether I'd sell my soul for a championship (I would).

It's those "other faves" that are impacted by the uniforms. As a kid, I liked the Bengals and Buccaneers. Truth be told, my affinity for these teams is mostly lost because I sort of stopped having "other faves" but that slim connection I had with the Bucs (creamsicle), Devils (Green and Red), Orioles (standing bird on the cap) and Bengals (non-clownsuit) are pretty much gone...I don't "kinda pull for them" when my teams are out anymore. And I still sometimes do "pull for" teams because of the uniforms... I may, in the playoffs, pull for teams like the Blue Jays (after years of blah), Maple Leafs, Red Wings, and Islanders over some teams, with uniforms being the "tie breaker". But I am not really a "true fan" of these teams.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."
