Sodboy13
If I need to look it up to figure out how to pronounce it, it's a bad name. Not that I'll need to know how to pronounce it anytime soon, given the tenor of the labor talks. dfwabel
So, is Chicago boarding a plane this afternoon or not?Edit: Twitter has them in seats. Now, will they play?
Billy B
I'm cautiously optimistic that they'll play. The Fire (minus their union reps) getting on the plane is good news since word is they had a contingency plan to fly out tomorrow if necessary. It sounds like nothing is expected to happen until later this afternoon though.

sportstar1212
With soccer finally reaching the turning point in the US after the World Cup, a lockout would've pissed all that momentum away. I'm glad they reached a deal.
dfwabel
Reads like they took an increase in the minimum salary (over time) in exchange for greater free agency. Reportedly, the cap will increase. The players better have negotiated an early opt-out. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orlando-city-lions/on-the-pitch/os-mls-players-avoid-strike-orlando-city-20150304-post.html

Gothamite
Yeah, this seems like incremental steps. Free agency went from one single eligible player to affecting somewhere near 10% of the league. The owners wanted an 8-year deal, the players held out and got 5. The minimum salary went to a liveable wage, but didn't increase anywhere near commensurate with the bump in television revenues. So steps in the right direction, but not fantastic progress. Laying a foundation. I can see where current players would be disappointed, since many won't see the real improvements during their careers. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog. Laying a foundation. I can see where current players would be disappointed, since many won't see the real improvements during their careers.Let's be honest, in these negotiations, the chips were stacked against the players to begin with. I understand the players are disappointed with what they got, but when they have almost zero leverage, they were never going to go from "nothing" to "everything". The most valuable thing players won in these negotiations is a foothold in the most important areas and a short deal that will allow them to push the boundaries further next time. If in 2020 the players can get the minimum salary to 100K, bring the FA rule down to 6-7 years, and a salary cap of 5M, that's a really good foundation for a growing league. 2001mark
When both sides aren't happy, it's usually a good CBA.As for the players' union, they'll be happy when they can re-open it in 5yrs based on tv revenue (right?). However, enough of the current vets won't be around to see that money, thus they jussst missed the money boat. @2001mark

DG_ThenNowForever
Good for Jozy to start the season with two goals. Too bad he couldn't get there with Sunderland. I picked up an inaugural NYCFC scarf today. I tell you, the team has a pretty slick identity across the board. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
