Tebow Watch 2012

That is the thing. The Jets made this trade for their locker room to unite. This will do the oppisite. But hey, if this makes Rex a little bit more famous then his goal is met. Rex loves the attention and part of me thinks this is why he pushed for this. He loves the circus.

Funny how Kurt Warner was never treated the same way Tebow is being treated. I don't think anyone ever said "Keep that religious nut Warner away from my team!" or "I'm never going to be a fan of the Cardinals because Warner is a religious nut bag".

You know why Warner wasn't criticized like Tebow is being criticized? He never put displays of individual faith above the team, and never used prayer as a brazen attempt to garner publicity. He never used his celebrity as a platform to spread the ignorant message of hate groups such as Focus on the Family. Instead, he quietly started a foundation that helps developmentally-disabled children, single parents, and children's hospitals. As an atheist, I can respect that kind of classy, real approach to religious faith.

You need to watch more clips of Kurt Warner, apparently. Don't let that selective memory of yours fool you.

Guys doing this after the game is one thing. The question is whether they can keep it at bay in the locker room. I don't know that Tebow cannot do that. I have never heard it's been a problem.

The Twins, in the late 1980s (1988-1989 or so) were torn apart by religion. Greg Gagne had been very religious (would not join the 1987 champagne celebrations), but the word was he kept it to himself and caused no issue. Then when the Twins traded for Tommy Herr, who got to Gary Gaetti, the two of them caused a huge rift by being quite judgmental towards their teammates. Friendships were damaged, and the team declined. (I mention Gagne as an example that it CAN be OK; and Herr/Gaetti as an example that it can be a problem).

While I don't support Tebow's organizations (particularly their attitudes toward gays), I do think he generally keeps it professional in the locker room. It's hard to say that he tore the locker room apart at Florida, with two national titles.

The Denver Broncos are expected to trade quarterback Tim Tebow to either the New York Jets or Jacksonville Jaguars by midday Wednesday, Orlando's WKMG-TV reported, citing a source close to the NFL star.

Tebow's not going to the Jets. Can't see it happening after the extention they just gave Sanchez. Plus, I believe Rex is tired of the circus and at this point just wants to win. Signing Tebs would totally go against that.

Quoted for posterity.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

Rex and Tebow view the world so differently. I bet Tebow thinks foot fetishes are evil.

Considering how badly people have reacted and busted on Rex, especially on these boards, it would appear so does everyone...

We agree.

If that's really what they were thinking, they're even crazier than I thought. That doesn't make any sense at all.

Will it? I don't think Tebow is a bad locker room guy.

(Or do you mean that the media attention will cause it to be a problem. Because I can definitely see that)

I had to google this to make sure Verne's kid didn't have a token stint with the local baseball club.

No relation (and The Twins' Greg pronounces it Gag-Knee). But Vern and tons of other wrastlers from yesteryear come from Robbinsdale, MN, the town in which I was born and raised. I am so proud.

Religion didn't seem to bother the Steelers' lockerroom on their way to winning SB XL. And nobody seemed to be outraged that Bill Cowher forced his religion on his team.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Tebow = Retarded redneck with no common sense, an inability to deal with media & bad dental hygiene?

I think you're a little off base with that one... Tim's not gonna be telling magazines about all the single moms riding the subway with blue-haired lesbians and crackheads... He's a little-bit more media saavy than good ol' boy Rocker...

The Jets had to be one of the worst teams for Tebow to go to from that team's coaching/management situation. Tebow needed to either go to a team with an established QB that won't be benched under any circumstance (Patriots, Packers) or a team where he could step in and be the starter (maybe Jags.) A team with such an unstable quarterback situation like the Jets will be terrible from a media standpoint. Any slip up by Sanchez, and there will be more than a few of those, and the Tebow nuts and media will be clamoring for Tebow. I like watching Tebow play and I'm not a fan of Sanchez at all, so I'd like to see him get on the field, but I can't see this going well at all for the Jets.
