How many stints has MacTavish had as Oilers head coach? 9?!?!

The Oilers oughtta molatov cocktail the whole thing and start over with a new management group. Their fans probably don't want to hear that, but it's clear they're not going to win with Kevin Lowe and team. Stop spinning the metaphorical wheels in the metaphorical mud and hire somebody competent. Somebody who knows how to use a metaphorical wench.

Did anyone watch that show on NHL Network? I think it was called Oil Change where they followed the team around with cameras and documented their last place finishes. It was supposed to document their rise to a contender. That was like 2 or 3 years ago when they were supposed to blow up and it hasn't happened yet.

No, Oilers fans do want to hear that. They've been fed up with Kevin Lowe and Craig MacTavish for a long time now.

Apparently MacT and former OKC Barons head coach Todd Nelson are going to share the head coaching duties for a while. Not sure how that's going to work.

BTW, Dan Bylsma's not doing anything right now *hint hint*.

Kevin Lowe is the worst thing ever to happen to this franchise. At some point, you gotta realize that this isn't working, and blow it up.

Since this reminds me of when the Sabres only fired Lindy Ruff when they should have fired everyone, I'll predict that the Oilers follow the same path the Sabres did (hint: it's not good). They bring up the underwhelming AHL coach because he "knows how to work with young players", the whole thing is a tire fire, and the GM gets fired next season. The only flaw in the prediction is that the Oilers will probably end up with McDavid or Eichel. But since three #1 overall picks didn't help them, why should one more?

Oilers keep sinking to a Brand New Low(e).

It's depressing.

This post sparked it in my head, so all of you will also have to have your repressive NHL 2002/Canadian pop punk memories pushed to your forefront, too.

(Treble Charger's stuff aged much better than Sum 41, but I digress)

Eakins is (was) the absolute least of their problems.

And lol back to 2012 when the "experts" at ESPN predicted that Yakupov and Schultz would catapult a last-place Oilers squad into third in the league. Those where the days, where the future was so bright we all had to wear sunglasses...

What ever happened to Taylor Hall? Wasn't he supposed to be the next big thing, too?

Would it be so hard for the oilers to say, implement a Shero/Bylsma (or you know, any of the other comptenent NHL coaches and GMs currently unemployed) regime? I mean really, they are right there.

Getting them brings the same problem with getting any quality free agent, so to speak, to Edmonton. Those people would have to want to live in Edmonton.

Like they should've been doing through the draft, they have to make a young base. They have to get a young up-and-comer looking to make a name. The whole entire thing ( the WHOLE. ENTIRE. THING.) needs to start from the ground up.

"Slava Voynov punched, kicked and choked his wife, Marta Varlamova, at the couple's home in October.

The officer who gave testimony told the court about a bloody scene he discovered at the couple's home and that Varlamova said she was scared.

According to reports out of the courtroom, Marta Varlamova had a wound above her left eye, caused after Voynov pushed her into a flat-screen television, that required eight stitches to close."

Typical Canadians, they play for their country but not for its cities. When it's time to do some maudlin Canadiana spot for Tim Hortons or Canadian Tire, they won't turn down money from Toronto's ad agencies, just its poor (wealthy) hockey team. That's why I'm so thrilled about the possibility of the NHL being done with the Olympics. We can find out who the real Canadians are. You want to "play for your country"? There's a team with a maple leaf on it. There's another whose name is just your country's demonym. If Canada is a great country, and I submit that it is, then you should leap at the chance to play on behalf of your countrymen all winter long, plus kick a nice chunk of your seven-figure salary to your vastly superior national healthcare system. Sign there, demand a trade, find a way.

Well, to be fair, Edmonton specifically (and Winnipeg too, I suppose) is cold and boring and not all that fun to live in. Especially not if you're making your living playing for the Oilers under Kevin Lowe.
