The_Admiral
I once heard a Panthers fan on HFBoards say people can "never question" Sunrise as a hockey market again because they almost sold out Game 7 in the playoffs! NJTank
In 1966 the Yankees had a "crowd" of 413 WPIX announcer Red Barber asked the TV cameras to pan the empty stands as he commented on the low attendance. Although denied the camera shots on orders from the Yankees' head of media relations, he said, "I don't know what the paid attendance is today, but whatever it is, it is the smallest crowd in the history of Yankee Stadium, and this crowd is the story, not the game." www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
illwauk
Here's something you'll probably never see again... less than 20,000 in attendance for a Packers home game.A blizzard hit NE Wisconsin the night before, and continued to dump snow all the way through the end of the game. Most of the fans who did show up did so on snowmobiles, not cars.
sc49erfan15
I can't post a pic because I'm in phone, but the Carolina Panthers' inaugural season (played at Clemson University) produced some small crowds, especially considering how big the stadium was. Unocal
Can't find any pictures, but I remember hearing about a Jets/Oilers game in 1996 at the Meadowlands that because of a blowout and bad weather had an incredible number of empty seats. bosrs1
There is a twitter feed relevant to the OPhttps://twitter.com/EmptySeatsPicsand from that:This was announced as a sellout by the Houston Dynamo League game or is that an exhibition/Open Cup game? I know the latter games are very hard sells for most MLS teams. Their fanbases just can't seem to be bothered unless they're playing someone huge like Man U. Jimmy!
Does anyone know if pictures exist from the '79 A's v. Mariners game in front of 653 spectators? Sport
Len Barker threw a perfect game from the Indians where paid attendance was 7,290 and that was in 70,000 seat Cleveland Municipal. People who claim to have been there numbers in the hundreds of thousands. My grandfather and uncle, two men who couldn't be less interested in sports, were given tickets to the game and my uncle has them framed on his wall. In september of 1988 Tom Browning of the Reds threw a perfect game against the would-be world champion Dodgers in front of 16,000 paid attendance, but that was counted before the three hour rain delay. There may have been even fewer people in attendance for that game than Len Barker's.

goforbroke
Not sure the exact attendance number but that was nets vs bucks a few years ago after a major snowstorm hit New Jersey. - EDIT article this photo is from says 1,016. They moved people down to lower level and court side seatsSnow combined with a terrible 4-48 nets and that the nets were moving to brooklyn so what few fans they had gave up on them. Perfect storm of bad attendance. Nets lost this game by 20.
Roger Clemente
The Montreal Rocket of the QMJHL thought it would be great to play their home games at the Bell Centre, except they routinely drew less than 1000 fans. They only sold tickets in the sections immediately behind the benches and penalty box and that's it.I haven't been able to find many pictures. Just this one image that you can only view in the Google Image Search itself because clicking on the picture directly gives you nothing.https://www.google.ca/search?q=rocket+bell+centre+qmjhl&safe=off&biw=1680&bih=901&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=P59CVPOjHsGmyASw1IHwAg&ved=0CAYQ_AUoATgU#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=-9yoNNJaDBmMqM%253A%3Bp3Atxp12AqgUaM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fimg299.imageshack.us%252Fimg299%252F8265%252F22018470811fb1e41pc5.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.skyscrapercity.com%252Fshowthread.php%253Fp%253D33755168%3B336%3B205 Follow me on Twitter if you care: @Animal_Clans.My opinion may or may not be the same as yours. RoughRiders99
During one of the games between the Nashville Sounds and the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park in Des Moines, Iowa, was zero/. The city of Des Moines had downtown evacuated because of flooding concerns, but the Sounds and the Cubs NEEDED to get a game in. So they played a full nine-innings game in front of nobody save for a few scouts and stadium operations.
