Kemp to Padres :( LA must be nuts

No it would have been nuts for them to keep Kemp and pay him $31 million to platoon with three other good outfielders while they essentially had a minor league middle infield. Friedman made some good moves today cutting the fat and filling the holes that needed to be filled. We'll obviously see if the moves work or not, but their obviously putting all their chips in this season as Rollins, Kendrick, and Uribe will all be free agents after this year.

Jesus! I can't even keep track of who's on the Dodgers now!

Hanley and Kemp gone, LA gonna suck next season :(

Please. Have you seen their pitching rotation? Plus the players they have added today? You probably thought the Cardinals were going to suck when they lost Pujols

And do you root for every team in the MLB or something?

I'm so glad my Giants got their championships now, before the Dodgers start their dynasty of terror in the league. With their new ownership and players, LA is gonna be really tough to beat from now on.

Awesome trade.

Porcello had a great year last year, but was VERY inconsistent in years past. Almost makes me think last year was just a fluke. Regardless, Cespedes was a guy that I always loved/hated when he was on Oakland playing us.

Obviously they're considering Scherzer a lock to come back, which still gives us a starting rotation of Scherzer-Price-Sanchez-Verlander. Even if Scherzer walks, Price-Sanchez-Verlander-Greene/sign or trade for another guy is nothing to shake a stick at, plus we have the money to re-sign Price next year. Win-win situation. Personally, I'd take the latter. You're still in prime position to push for a series, but you have money to address the weak spots. The bullpen is still terrible. I've heard whispers of Sergio Romo.

Cespedes is most effective in LF, so hopefully JD Martinez can move to right.

Edit- Apparently Tigers-Reds are talking prospects for another starter. If this is done, I think Scherzer's a goner.

Yeah the Dodgers have been stacking their team for a few years and haven't accomplished much. Who knows though, they look pretty solid now.

Alfredo Simon to Detroit for Eugenio Suarez (prospect).

Cincy's also sending Latos to Miami.

I think it's a bit different now (FWIW, I didn't say that two years ago) because now the Dodgers have all this money AND a competent front office. That's what's really scary. They have Rays/A's style savvy, and more money than God. This could get real bad for us.

Now watch the Giants go out and win two more before the Dodgers do :P

Now if only they would get rid of that junk ball piece of :censored: Homer Bailey. He's definitely a guy I love to hate.

Junk ball? He's got a fastball in the mid 90's.

Alfredo Simon is 35 and in the last year of his deal so I like that trade. Latos had a rough year with injuries and they were able to get some quality prospects for him.

One thing's clear, the Reds aren't trying to win this year and the 2010-2013 championship window is officially closed.

Why? This is a great trade. We get a much needed bat and a much needed outfielder in one player. We traded Porcello after a good season while his value is high.

We add another solid starter to the rotation which already includes Price, Verlander and Sanchez. Use the Scherzer money to get bullpen help. Done.

Rick was my favorite Tiger, and now they're gonna pay a :censored:-ton of money for Scherzer only to have him suck/get injured. If we don't win the World Series with Greedy McGreedypants (Scherzer) in the rotation this year, I will set my Scherzer t shirt ablaze. Hope there's room for me on the Cubs bandwagon.

Cespedes' name was kicked around a lot on White Sox message boards. Some people claim that defensive statistics show he's awful in the field (other than his arm), others claim stats show he's solid. I don't know what exactly you can expect from him in the field, but you'll probably be disappointed with his bat.

You're tired of your team being a huge disappointment... so you're going to root for the Cubs? I don't follow. But yes, a good portion of the north side is Michigan transplants who moved to Chicago and became exclusively Cubs fans until 2006 when the Tigers started existing again, so you'd fit right in.

Im a Cubs fan now because they're actually making moves with the idea of wining a championship, not shredding payroll. Wrigley Field is also one of the most beautiful ballparks in baseball, equal only by Fenway Park. I could follow Porcello to Boston, but I don't like some of their fans.

EDIT: I also took a vacation to Chicago this summer and loved the atomospher of both the Cubs and their fan base. They're a team of loveable losers, not just some team that makes you go WTF!?!?!?!?
