Kyle Schwarber has a very punchable face.

He has a lego head.

At this point, I see a Royals-Mets series happening regardless of whether or not either series ends today (though I think both will). Nothing at all against the Blue Jays or Cubs, I just think the Royals and Mets have proven to be the better teams.

Should we get KC-NYM, I think we'd be in for some tight games. I don't know that it'd go to seven - either team could very well sweep, for all we know - but I do think each game is going to be a close scratch-and-claw. An offensive approach built on slowly chipping away at pitchers vs. what I believe to be one of the best rotations we've seen in the playoffs in recent memory. Something would of course have to give, but whatever gives won't give easy.

It's interesting how the Royals have Cardinal-like qualities, yet so many people cheered when St. Louis went down in flames and you didn't see that many people wanting KC to go down.

Because this is the Royals' second playoff berth in 30 years. The Cardinals are a frequent contender and are often on national TV. Prior to last year's wild card run, how often were the Royals on national TV or even given much attention? The Royals still have that "underdog" story going for them. But should they win this year and return next year, then you'll see people start to love to hate them, like the Cardinals.

Thing about the Royals for me is, growing up as a 90's kid, I only know them as having perennially sucked. Like, they were one of those teams growing up that had the lowest overall rating on my video games and you chose them as your opponent to beat up on when you needed to throw a no-hitter to unlock Nolan Ryan or something. They were that kind of "suck". They were doormats for the longest time, and now they're winning. Not only winning, but going far. I'm sorry, but that's always awesome to watch.

The Cardinals? Yeah...not so much that. At all.

*and for the record, though Toronto never reached that level of "suck", it's still just as good to see them get this far after so long as well.

Not that it really matters, but I found it interesting that when I was taking a Sporcle quiz about the worst teams of the 1990s the other day, the Cardinals appeared on the list, having one of the ten worst records for the decade.

I've shamelessly rode the Cubbies bandwagon all postseason (having always had a soft spot/second favorite team-type opinion of them anyway), but it ain't looking good.

I've got a gut feeling that whoever wins the ALCS will win the World Series.

Yeah, that's curtains.

Jason Hammel should probably leave the majors for good now, what with his 14.48813 1st inning ERA. Joe Maddon wanted him to start, and that's what you get. Hammel shouldn't start, yet Maddon starts him. That's all she wrote.

Haha, why do the Cubs even bother playing games?

So at this point does New York still want it more?

"And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

I think the Royals have the most balanced team. The Mets are hot right now, but then again, no one seems to be able to score runs when they need them like the Royals. Assuming it's Mets-Royals (and I still think it will be), it should be a fun series. Would have loved for my Dodgers to get there, but oh well, life goes on.

Well that's one prediction Back To The Future got wrong.

The prediction may be wrong, but it makes the joke absolutely legendary.

Think about it. It was a joke that was made 30 years ago about the futility of the Cubs, and on the EXACT day that it was set up, the Cubs get swept out of the playoffs. It's a joke with a 30 year punchline! And to make it even more legendary, there's only one possible outcome (the Cubs getting bounced out of the playoffs on BTTF Day) that adds real life irony to it. It's brilliant to the point that it's actually artistic.

If this holds, it's one of the best jokes in the history of sports/movies/mankind.

I think a lot of people thought the Cubs were the team to beat after beating the Cards, but I think a lot of people don't realize that the Cards were not exactly a healthy or consistent team for most of the second half of the season. Their 100 wins was more the product of a really strong first half more so than consistently being "the best team in baseball." Thus, I think the Cubs got out of the NLDS looking a bit stronger than they really were.

  1. That stretch of days off after beating St. Louis killed this team's momentum.

New York is too damn cold.

Mets pitching is too damn good.

Daniel Murphy

Some guy named Duda

Jason Hammel is for some reason still being trotted out by Maddon despite a 9.99999 1st inning ERA

Cubs have no bullpen

Cubs have a tree playing left field, but at least he hits home runs

Jorge Soler is secretly terrible at baseball

God is dead
