Giants torture baseball returns for yet another year.

Oh, hell no. After winning three titles in five years, with having the most dominant postseason pitcher in MLB history, the Giants can no longer use "torture" to describe themselves, their fans, nor their style of play.

I like that the Reds won, of course, but something happened that concerns me and brings up a lot of bad memories from last year - bullpen mismanagement.

The offense rescued the bullpen/Bryan Price yesterday.

Non-related: Joey Votto looks jacked in a healthy, skinny, non-steroids sort of way.

Tanaka's arm is about to fall off. What were you expecting from him? :D

The fact that Tanaka is changing how he pitches to avoid uinjury shows he needs to get the surgery over with and come back full strength next year. His veocity is way down and he is going to get pounded.

A's owner Lew Wolff has formally given up on San Jose:

"OAKLAND (CBS SF) — Oakland A’s owner Lew Wolff said a possible move to San Jose is “not worth a nasty battle” over territorial rights with the San Francisco Giants, and is hopeful the city’s new mayor can help them get a new stadium built in Oakland.

Wolff sounded open to staying in Oakland in an exclusive interview with KPIX 5’s Phil Matier.

“Every article I read says I can’t wait to move to San Jose, and that’s not true,” Wolff said.

Wolff is hopeful newly elected mayor Libby Schaaf, who he has “a great deal of respect for,” will be able to facilitate a deal for a new stadium."

Cubs/Cardinals called off due to weather.

Wrigley is using this time to put 10-gallon buckets between seats for emergency urine. During 7th inning stretch there will be a special offer in concessions - 2 free hot dogs in exchange for a full WUB (wrigley urine bucket).

No it's not.

PitchFX says Tanaka averaged 92.5 mph and 91.1 mph with his four-seamer and sinker yesterday, respectively, down negligibly from 92.7 mph and 91.4 mph last year. He did top out at 94.5 mph yesterday, so it’s not like he was out there with Jered Weaver velocity.

Good! Keep the A's somewhere in the East Bay.

You could tell just by watching that it was. The batter's were able to (and did) watch the ball all the way in, rather than swinging in case it was a 95 mph heater on certain counts.

The stats say his average wasn't much different but they don't really showcase the times he was able up the mph a few notches when needed. He wasn't able to do that the other day and it really showed in the 5 run inning in particular.
