Sodboy13
We're now at 7,700 season ticket deposits for Las Vegas, which means we're about 6 weeks away from the NHL buying up the remainder and calling the trial balloon a complete success.Fun thing I learned from Chris Johnston's Vegas update on SportsNet: The ownership recruited 75 Vegas whales to each buy and resell 60 deposits. That's 4,500 total. Which means, in terms of real people who have expressed interest in going to hockey games, the Vegas bid has attracted 3,200 deposits. This is all starting to feel rather Oakland Seals-y. rams80
Wait I hadn't even thought about how Vegas would be a catastrophe because of the trouble the players would get in. Oh crap. tigerslionspistonshabs
Panthers are in the hunt for the playoffs, have made some moves to show that they would at least to try to contend and actually have a decent team on the ice, but are only averaging 10,000 fans a game. The Coyotes have traded away every asset they have and have been all but eliminated from the playoffs since November, but can still get 13,000 fans to come out. cmm
But didn't the Panthers stop giving out free and heavily discounted tickets? Their lower number is probably more honest than the Coyotes'.
Sodboy13
Funny you mentioned Coyotes numbers. Sarah McLellan of The Arizona Republic has the figures from IceArizona's 2013-14 season:Operating losses (without one-time charges): $16,458,000Acquisition costs: $7,878,000Buyout of Mike Ribeiro: $10,495,000Total Coyotes losses reported to City of Glendale: $34,831,000.So, let's look at the official "Destination 2018: Anywhere Else" toteboard, and...Only $15,169,000 to go!I can't believe ownership gets to factor in the last two items in their loss reports to the city. Wait, of course I can, because Glendale's been happily playing along with this game of 3-card monte for five years now.Can the Coyotes lose $15 million more in four seasons? Well, Rocky Wirtz says he goes $20 million in the red on the Blackhawks every year, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see! 2 Quote On 1/25/2013 at 1:53 PM, 'Atom said: For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. HedleyLamarr
Can't the NHL give the Coyotes an unlimited amount of revenue-sharing money each year? If Bettman and/or the league are so inclined, they can gift them enough money to make sure they don't reach that magic $50 million mark within five years. Sodboy13
I think it's worth asking whether they could exempt that from their report to the city if they so chose, given that they're allowed to count the Ribeiro buyout as a loss. Mike Smith's got 4 years at $5.5M+ left; he'll fix everything if the team gets too close to black ink. The_Admiral
It's ridiculous that they're counting Ribeiro's buyout as a loss. When you consider all the cocaine they don't have to buy him anymore, they're coming out ahead! 1 Quote ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The_Admiral
OVER ALMOST 9,000 seats is impressive in a month -- Winnipeg had 9,000 in ten minutes -- but this isn't going to work very well if it doesn't sell out every night, right? The_Admiral
Vue d'une loge corporative . Elle date un peut ( 3 semaines ) mais que c'est beauuu Il y a longtemps que je voulais voir un panoramique aussi clair . Merci à la personne qui a pris cette photo A view from a corporate box. It's a little dated (three weeks) but it's goooood. I've wanted to see a clear panorama for a long time. Thanks to the person who took this photo. I love the white of the building and the snow against that bright clear blue you get in winter. So Nordic. C'est incroyable. monkeypower
This is my favorite part of the article. At the very least, the uniqueness of the market should allow Vegas to generate more revenue in the early years than some of the NHLs problem cities."Isn't that keen? A new hockey team in Las Vegas! Pry your father away from the slots and forget about Penn and Teller. Hockey in Las Vegas? That's so unique we just have to check it out. The Johnson clan from Branson, Missouri are in Las Vegas to have fun!"
