Cosmic
Can I call it now? The NHL announces two expansion teams, netting the Coyotes ~$30M in expansion fees before they can reach the magical $50M threshold. How's about this; the NHL announces two expansion teams because it wants so damn badly to have those stupid Coyotes stay in Desertland, and is hellbent on never being proven wrong on the obvious.I have no doubt that's part of it. TorinK92
Bill Foley had this to say about his Vegas expansion team, according to Yahoo"The league has been positive and supportive with our efforts. We feel like we're on the 1-yard line with this thing."It looks like the similarities with Seattle don't stop at the fact that neither of them are getting NHL franchises anytime soon.

Lee.
Bettman did make a weird comment in Winnipeg re: expansion and alignment, though, along the lines of "if 16-14 worked, so does 17-15." Quebec and Vegas? Quote Welcome to DrunjFlix

Quebec and Vegas? It'd be a great thing for the league for sure, and I really don't expect the league to play with 31 teams if the Vegas expansion is granted. But I'd rather have a team set up shop in Portland or another northern market if Seattle or Milwaukee become viable, so the league plays with even conferences; and then let the three ring circus of Arizona, Vegas, and Florida fall where they may and have one of them find their way up to Quebec. Morgan33
Per Icethetics, the NHL has already selected a colour scheme for a Vegas based team. Black, Yellow and Grey... Not terribly original by any stretch.http://www.icethetics.co/blog/2015/4/21/las-vegas-doesnt-have-nhl-team-yet-does-have-colors
The_Admiral
That's basically the Ducks' color scheme minus orange, which makes perfect sense: Foley went to West Point and wants to call this team the Black Knights as well, while Brian Burke took a field trip to West Point in '06 and came back proclaiming "we're gonna be big and tough like Army now we're the army pew pew pew pew pew." 1 Quote ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Sport
I wish they could've found a way to stay in that area, but they had literal decades to figure it out. I know they went through the thing with Spano and Wang was a wang and Long Island's politics are a maze of red tape, but still they should've been able to make it happen.
