I am surprised by the Ravens' 1-6 record, but I'm not surprised that they're not good.

To any NFL expert, and there were a lot of them, or anyone for that matter, who picked the Ravens to win the AFC North what the hell did you see in that team to make you believe they'd be the best team in the division?

Losing Suggs for the season in Week 1 was pretty devastating, and their cornerback play has been appalling. Injuries to virtually all their corners except Webb is what sunk them against New England in the playoffs. Jimmy Smith being back was supposed to help. It hasn't. #1's have roasted him at a shocking rate. Either he's not healthy or his technique is really suffering right now. Likely more the latter than the former. Even still - all of their losses have been one-score games. They could easily be 0-7 right now; they could also easily be 4-3 right now, too. They're better than their record, but almost halfway through the season, that's little consolation. They're good as cooked for 2015. As far as the offensive side of the ball goes - their WR corps is a mess and Dennis Pitta will probably never be healthy again, apparently. Also, there's some "Flacco/elite joke" somewhere in there that I'm not good enough to figure out.

Even still, they're 1-6. Many of us misfired on what's happened there. Welp.

This hits the nail just about on the head. The only thing to add is that they have had other injuries besides Suggs, both short and long term (Dumervil, Webb, Steve Smith, Justin Forsett, Crockett Gillmore, Eugene Monroe, Will Davis, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Kelechi Osemele last night . . . )

Remember, this was a team that pushed the Patriots to the limit in Foxborough, did not have that much turnover in the offseason* and expected to be better in the secondary. Predicting them to be solid was not that shocking.

* -- Brandon Williams has been a pretty good stand-in for Ngata. Torrey Smith was supposed to be replaced by Breshad Perriman, but he hasn't seen the field since training camp.

Well, I guess Miami wasn't as turned around as many indicated. They still have many issues on offense (mostly the line, which really doesn't help the run game). I will say this though, tonight's game was and will be the hardest game of the season for Miami.

Julian Edelman is a product of Brady.

As was his predecessor, Wes Welker -- who was an afterthought in San Diego and average at-best in Miami.

Put him on the Falcons or Bengals, do Ryan/Dalton make him look this good?

Ryan and Dalton can't "make careers" like Brady, Peyton and Rodgers. Never will.

These New England Patriots are the most unexciting offensive juggernaut ever. Brady does not throw bombs anymore. Just dink and dunk, yet it's putting up 1998 Vikings numbers.

ESPN offered this nugget: The past 10 seasons, New England is 4-0 when at least 80% of their plays are dropbacks; all other NFL teams are a combined 3-109 in that same period.

It's called high-percentage passing and yards after the catch. More teams should do this; why they don't is anyone's guess.

And also good for us. :)

Tough day for Jarryd Hayne. Australia loses to New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup, and he gets cut by the Niners.

Even on the other side of the planet people are disgusted with the 49ers.

It truly has been a banner year for little Jed and his merry bunch of demim-clad idiots.

Detroit, I think needed to completely clean house; not just fire Lombardi the OC. Caldwell NEEDS to go. I would not be surprised if Caldwell is fired sometime this week, tomorrow, or during Detroit's Bye Week.

They already fired Lombardi...
