NeverSayNever
Looks kind of like a hockey jersey to me? Great crest? Check. Identifiable stripe? Check. Unique proprietary colors? Check. Bold large legible numbers? Check. If it looks like a hockey jersey? It's a hockey jersey.

daniel75
I really think its only liked for nostalgia purposes, if that logo came out today everyone would be trashing it.
NeverSayNever
I think that's called heritage. And really over the last 10 years, has anyone created a team identity as interesting or engaging as was being created back the '90's?

Believe it or not, they no longer own the trademark to that uniform and haven't for more than ten years! Perhaps. But what can be done about that? Should the league do a redesign every decade to keep up with what's in? I think having a mix of different "flavors" is healthy for a 30(1) team league. habsfan1
Unpopular opinion alert: while I have a fondness for the nostalgic classic Mighty Ducks logo, at the same time I don't see anything wrong with the look of the current brand. And those prototypes are all awful for the NHL level.

Whether it resembles a Disney cartoon or not is irrelevant. A good design is a good design and this is so far ahead of the current set it's embarrassing. Speaking of the current set, how bad is the current striping configuration. Talk about an overly convoluted design. Thank god they unveiled that orange alternate. Closest thing they've had to a good jersey since 2006.
habsfan1
Those diagonal stripes reek of the 90s, though. Most of us probably agree that it's a good design and those colors together make a good color palette. Some people just don't agree that it's timeless and I can sorta see why. NeverSayNever
It's often that expansion teams push the envelope on traditional designs knowing that they have no traditional "heritage" to reference nor offend. Teams like the Raptors for instance took a very over the top approach to their expansion branding, ironically, 20 plus years later it's still by far what the team is best known for outside Toronto... Besides, having 90's influenced stripes makes sense for a team established in 1994.
