dfwabel
Broadcast wise, this is going to be interesting as he is instantly thrown into the A-pairing Jim Nantz. Even Aikman started on the B/C team, them spent a couple of years with both Buck and Collingsworth on the FOX A-team. And CBS has the Cowboys' Thanksgiving game this year too, so that's at least one of their games.
rainmaker17
Never saw this coming. I'm just really glad Romo isn't going to Houston.
FiddySicks
Woah. Didn't see that one coming. I was sure he had at least a year or two left in the tank. JWhiz96
Pretty much saw this coming. Good ole Jerry screwed him over by not releasing him in time to find a suitor. His own selfishness gets in the way once again. Romo was a solid QB who for whatever reason came up just short in big moments. He'll do well as an analyst and color commentator. PrimalCookie
As a Houston fan, . We're now stuck with Tom Savage as our QB1, unless we're desperate enough to sign Cutler. As an NFL fan, this is definitely going to be interesting. This could really work, or it could be a total fail. Will be interesting to see how he goes with Jim Nantz. 2001mark
As someone not at all invested in Tony Romo, it's good that his health didn't directly force retirement - like being broken in half or whatever. It's also good that we don't have Favre Watch 2.0 on our horizon with his final years. @2001mark

~Bear
I'm baffled that people are upset Phil Simms is gone. He was the worst commentator in the league. His firing made the NFL's CBS broadcasts instantly better. He's been in the league forever, so he might end up with his own show or radio show or something. If Tony is worse than Simms, someone should give Romo a medal for being so god-awful. But at least 4:00 Sunday games are tolerable now. It's going to be weird not yelling "Shut Up, Phil!" at the TV on Sunday. Hopefully it's for the better.
CS85
The NFL will stream Thursday Night Football for Amazon Prime members this season, in addition to presenting them on NFLN and CBS. Dynasty
And to think, we could've had Tony Romo and Troy Aikman on FOX, airing Cowboys games! Wouldn't have that been great or what?!

He does seem to fawn over the star QB's in the national TV games he does, though. You could do worse than Simms.

They become less of a know it all & more of a keen observer. It won't hurt that CBS' talking QB will be of this more recent era, as it should be. Most of these guys, on the A list crews at least, ought to be more in tune with the game on the field than guys retired 15+ years. @2001mark
BBTV
Sims doesn't talk like he's talking. He's not exactly shouting, but he doesn't sound like a normal person. He's like a person who is pretending to sound like an announcer rather than an announcer. So we have two ex-Cowboys as the lead color guys now. Splendid. At least Aikman is good. I can't imagine Romo being anything other than a total douche. Still falls into a trap of talking from whistle to snap, it's exhausting. He had a good SB as did Buck. @2001mark
JayMac
Notice that the Cowboys are getting shoved down our throats by way of the media? Aikman on Fox, Romo now on CBS, Irvin and Deion on the NFL Network...it's crazy.

Speaking of washing out, McNabb was on TV but cannot stay away from the sauce, and Hugh Douglas tends to fight his co-workers when given a national presence too. I see where you are driving at but I'm not an Eagles fan at all. I'm just saying that it's Cowboys overkill. By the way, I agree that the 2 former Eagles that you mentioned are terrible, even without the trouble that they have gotten into.
