Penn State > Beaver Stadium.

It's named after a surname (James A. Beaver), but it sounds like the wrong team's mascot.

But like the Cow Palace, its original purpose was to house livestock. Don't think it's funny.

Rotterdam Ahoy...funnier.

No, not really about the Stampede Corral.  The Stampede Corral was built to replace old Victoria Arena as home of the minor pro Calgary Stampeders of the WHL.  Opened in 1950.  First hockey game there 11 days after opening.  Always a multi-purpose arena with main use at the start intended for hockey.  At time of construction, was the largest arena in Canada west of Toronto.

My Lafayette Leopards officially play football in/on Fisher Field at Fisher Stadium. The field is named for the alumnus who solicited most of the money and donated a large sum when the stadium was built in 1926, which is why the name was just Fisher Field until 2006.  The stadium is named for a different person who was one of the donors supporting a major renovation in 2006 (and who may or may not be related to the original Fisher).

In my high school, our principal was Dr. Payne, so we called our basketball arena the House of Payne.
