I guess he's thinking Oklahoma. This is Week 5, so we may get others willing to sit now if they are about to play their 5th game. Note Houston played their first four games over 18 days. Oklahoma gets a 5 star QB (Rattler) and he could end up never suiting up for them if this happens. I've seen TCU and A&M on the list as well. See Red
King is expected to stay at Houston from what I'm seeing. He did tear his ACL last season, maybe he's not 100% and doesn't want to risk anything in a wasted season, since Houston doesn't look great. dfwabel
Iowa/Iowa State in jeopardy over a band incident? Quote University of Iowa president Bruce Harreld questioned whether it should be played in the future in an interview with the school newspaper, the Daily Iowan. His comments came in the wake of members of the Hawkeye marching band saying they were verbally, physically and sexually harassed at the Sept. 14 game in Ames, Iowa. "I'm not convinced at all that we should play this game again -- here or there or anywhere -- unless we can protect our fans, our band, and of course our athletes," Harreld told the paper on Monday, adding that he expected to be able "to work through this." On Tuesday, Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard said that "it's critical that we do everything possible to continue to maintain this series." Pollard, who held a joint news conference on Tuesday with ISU Police Chief Michael Newton and ISU president Wendy Wintersteen, said an Iowa deputy athletics director called him on Sept. 18 and listed "five alleged incidents," but he said that no police reports had been filed by either school. "Chief Newton and his team, fully investigated to the best of our ability, those five incidents, and concluded that it was going to be really tough to know exactly what happened," Pollard said. On Sept. 20, Iowa reopened its investigation into allegations detailed in a report from the Cedar Rapids Gazette, which included accounts from band members who said they experienced verbal and physical sexual harassment and assault, and lasting bruises from objects that were thrown. Two band members quoted in the story said one woman was sent to the hospital with fractured ribs. Third-year band member Corey Knopp, 21, who plays tenor saxophone, told the Gazette he was among those assaulted. "A fan shoved me out of his way as we were marching in formation back to the buses," Knopp told The Gazette. "He decided to cut through the band and shoved me out of his way. I yelled, 'Do not put your hands on me, sir,' and he yelled back, '(expletive) you.'"
dont care
From the article it sounds like the band was in the wrong. They went to the wrong exit and tried forcing there way through an area there wasn’t enough room in, and being obnoxious playing their instruments as well. Even if the band is in the wrong as far as going through an area they aren't expected to use, it's poor etiquette to cut through the band. Had that been the football team the fans wouldn't have tried shoving their way through. Since there was some sort of a police escort according to the article, wouldn't the police know if they aren't allowed in certain parts of the stadium? But when said band is literally pushing their way through and run over the crowd for the crowd to retaliate is perfectly justified to me. If I’m making my way walking with a crowd and someone comes from behind me and starts running into me I’m going to push them back at a minimum. Red Wolf
I'm really surprised Fuente's been such a bust at Va Tech. I also thought Memphis was doomed to collapse when he left, so what do I know?

I also thought Memphis was doomed to collapse when he left, so what do I know? Turkey Bacon! Quote Fuente called the emergency meeting, rounding up his players via text message to gather in the team meeting room. “We all come in and he’s at the point where he’s like, ‘What is it? What’s the problem?’” Turner says. One by one, players began to express their frustration and make suggestions for change within the program. Some of the requests were more trivial in nature. For instance, they asked for turkey bacon to be served in the dining hall and the next week, turkey bacon was served in the dining hall. Others asked for uniform alterations. So when you see Tech players wearing orange cleats and orange jerseys at some point this season, you’ll now know why. Enhancements to the players’ lounge are coming, too, and even the practice schedule got an adjustment to accommodate their requests: more morning practices and fewer of those that begin at 7 p.m. The staff altered the offseason conditioning program as well, easing up on grueling workouts that often left players dropping to the ground. They loosened up practice to make it more fun and held more team-bonding events this offseason to bring together two factions, the offense and defense, that were divided a year ago. And this... Quote In the last 16 months, this team has lost at least 22 players to dismissal, transfer or academic ineligibility, many of them older guys from Beamer’s final signing class, 2015, and Fuente’s first, 2016. About 60%, or 27, of the signees in those two classes did not complete their careers here. Just 12 remain on the current roster. The team enters 2019 with only five players on its roster classified as seniors, something that will adversely impact the 2020 signing class. The Hokies might have room for just 12–15 signees, Fuente suggests. As for all of those transfers, some who left were the perpetrators of negativity (no one will reveal their names). Others departed as a result of that negativity, and another group sought playing time elsewhere after graduating.

Almost every recruit that comes to visit is in either the solid white, or white helmet/orange jersey/white pants. Its funny... for someone who was known for doing many uniforms each season and a fast tempo offense, he has went the complete opposite way. Little variety the last 2 years with uniforms, and super telegraphed, lethargic offense

Red Wolf
Almost a perfect week, but of course UCLA is the most useless football team on the planet. At least San Jose State did their part and got whipped by Air Force to make sure Arkansas looks ridiculous. Arkansas State won via clock runoff when a Troy player was injured and play was stopped with 9 seconds left. Troy had no timeouts left, so the ten second runoff ended the game. Feels almost karmic after they faked offensive injuries to save time on their final drive when they beat Arkansas State back in 2017.

A legitimate injury shouldn't cost you a game. I know teams will fake injuries to save or stop time. The only other rule that's harsher is that targetting can cost a player more than a player who's ejected for throwing a punch.
WJMorris3
I'm hoping, as I always do, that the best four conference champions get into the College Football Playoff. That's really how it should work every year. Don't win your conference? Then you're not good enough to get in.

LSU, Bama, Georgia, odd-year Auburn, and Florida should not get penalized for being in a conference together while at least two of the other P5 conferences are mostly trash. A one-loss Clemson should be eliminated. Everyone in the Pac 12 right now should be eliminated. If Texas wins the Big XII, what sense would it make to put them in over a one-loss LSU team that beat them?
WJMorris3
Tell you what. How about we expand to a 16 team playoff, with the ten conference champions, and say the six best conference runners-up? Would still be fair, given any team in any of the ten conferences could win all their games and be guaranteed a shot at the national title.
