tBBP
The only reason I can see for the Chefs cooking up this deal is to save money in the long term--considering they've got half of Oprah's bingo money tied up into Pat Mahomes for [most of] the next decade. That plus they must have enough confidence in the rest of their diminutive fleet-footed and and oh by the way cheaper receiver corps plus Smith-Schuster on the roster (that kinda takes away from that) that somehow they felt their best and fleetest-footed WR was expendable. But I'll tell you what: If this don't prove the NFL is a business, I don't know what else will. *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||
Red Comet
Tyreek Hill wanted $30,000,000 a year and the Chiefs cap space was slightly under $10,000,000 before this move. They could’ve backloaded the contract but it would’ve caused even bigger issues down the line. In light of this, when the choice is 5 draft picks versus screwing the cap situation even more long-term, the decision is obvious. In short, it’s a stupid on-field decision and a brilliant off-field decision.
DCarp1231
Way too much draft capital given up for a WR. Should’ve been enough to stop at the 2022 picks
GDAWG
the sport of football has granted us off the field chaos and it's great. First it was the coaching carousel in College (as well as re-alignment) and now it's NFL Free Agency/Trades.
DoctorWhom
That's a crazy haul for a WR. Now to see how exposed Mahomes gets without his safety net.

He still has Kelce and Smith-Schuster. And if he’s desperate, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Mecole Hardman. Also, Mahomes is plenty talented enough on his own to buoy up otherwise unremarkable receivers. DG_YouKnowWhatThatMeans
Yes -- Mahomes will be fine. $30M/year seems like an insane number for a WR. This was the list prior to free agency: 1. Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins: $27.3 million 2. Falcons WR Julio Jones: $22 million 3. Chargers WR Keenan Allen: $20 million 4. Cowboys WR Amari Cooper: $20 million 5. Saints WR Michael Thomas: $19.3 million 6. Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill: $18 million 6. Giants WR Kenny Golladay: $18 million 8. Bears WR Allen Robinson: $17.9 million 9. Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett: $17.3 million 10. Buccaneers WR Mike Evans: 16.5 million Is Tyreek the best WR in the NFL? Maybe! Is he worth the price of a top 10 starting QB? I guess Tua will find out. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

I think Mahomes and Hill complemented each other extremely well, given that Hill’s best trait (pure speed) was constantly put on display by Mahomes’ best trait (arm strength/deep ball accuracy). Put Hill in Cooper Krupp’s spot in the SB. Do you think Stafford could have Hill carry a GW drive like Kupp did?
Crabcake
Yeah this one was a shocker. Great point by Fakers+Snippers about Hill and Mahomes complimenting each other as much as they did. It’s been a while since a QB and WR felt like they were as made for each other as they were. I think they both will suffer being apart from each other, although their talents are certainly great enough to carry them on their own (Mahomes in particular). And as Red Comet said, off the field this is brilliant from KC. They saw the writing on the wall with his extension, knew he would leave or not be happy, and had the guts to trade him when his value was highest instead of waiting too long to salvage the situation. DoctorWhom
Mahomes is obviously still crazy good. But KC will suffer a bit losing Hill because he was key in a lot of those close games. In other news; What an awkward reunion.
Dynasty
The Dolphins have had a history of underused WR's that played better on other teams (Welker and Marshall come to mind). Of course Hill is a Top 5 receiver right now, but he is only going to do so much with Tua, who can barely even throw down the field. It's a lot of draft picks (and money), but I'll stick with the fan mentality and just be glad we have another good player.
