Why cant they be a Red, Black, and green team.  Imagine this Reverse Retro with Blue swapped for black and gold swapped for green, maybe a lighter volt/neon green...

Or even just swap the blue for a darker green. Red/Athletic Gold/Dark Green would also be a beautiful combo.

It would... but it might be infringing on the Wild's look a bit. The main thing that would separate the Wild's scheme and the Devils' hypothetical red, green, and white scheme would be the Wild's use of gold and wheat.

I donno. Red, black, and white is a perfectly acceptable colour scheme for a team called the Devils. And they won three Cups in it.

But there's something so odd and unique and charming about the red, green, and white scheme.

I think it's that green really fits New Jersey because of the connection to the Pine Barrens and thus the Jersey Devil that the team was named after.  Plus, even if Minnesota uses red and green they generally use a lot more green than they do red, so a red-dominant take on that general color scheme would still be pretty unique.

I didn't realize until now that the back hem stripes on the Islanders' retro jersey doesn't connect to the front.  It looks so random.

They really made a mess of the whole thing.  Worst part is no lighthouse shoulder patch.  That was the best part of that set in the first place.

The fisherman has made his triumphant return to Long Island.

They weren't able to get the 90s wavy stripes to look like waves. They might as well just spare themselves the hassle and go with a straight hem.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

Negatives:

No wave stripes

No teal (the little dab on the logo doesn't count)

No wavy name and numbers

No lighthouses

Positives:

The Fisherman is back. He's back in the New York Groove.

Nyisles is back. The greatest mascot in the history of history. (Well except for Mac Tonight from McDonalds)
