MLB Regular Season 22: The Thread

Baseball is no sillier than performance art, or going skiing, or watching 80 superhero movies per year ... humans have a need for the occasional dip into meaningless entertainment and watching competition is as valid as any other. Doesn't mean it doesn't have big problems but I find the "it's a kids game" argument overly reductive. Plus there needs to be a place where masculine aggression can be contained, instead of like starting wars or violent acts.

Absolutely. Once we start dissecting one form of entertainment, they all become pretty stupid.

I am glad the media is hyping up Aaron Judge's homerun chase towards the end of the season. Not sure when the next time we will see anyone hit more than 60 homeruns in a season. I  hope the media hypes of that future player as well regardless of which team they're on.

I was there and it was awesome. It felt like Cal Raleigh's ball was in the air for an hour.

Such a cool moment, especially for the long-time baseball fans of Seattle who have been begging for a winner.

The Ms look legit, but even if they flame out of the playoffs, they'll have this moment. Really cool to be in the building for it.

A little late, but congratulations to the Mariners, @DG_ThenNowForever and @Seadragon76 on making it to the dance for the first time in 21 years from your division rivals who were in the NL last time it happened. Y'all definitely deserve this moment, especially how you clinched it. See ya in the ALDS (hopefully).

Sacramento Kings now have the longest playoff drought in the big 4 leagues. Last made the playoffs in 2006

Sorriest franchise in pro sports. They deserve this title.

Stoked for the M’s. I really hope they can beat the traffic guards and prevent us from having to see that particular mess go any further in the playoffs.

Mariners are pretty good, but realistically I can't see them making it past the ALCS if they have to play the Yankees or Astros.

Of course as I said, I'd love to see them get some 21 year old revenge against the Yankees for ruining their record breaking season.

^ Heard that before; let's not get our hopes up. This was a good season for Baltimore, but history hasn't been very kind to them, even after 2014. If I was an O's fan, I would just relish in the fact that they were literally in the postseason hunt at some point (and finished with a winning record).

Still, I'd like to see what next year can bring for them. There is reason for optimism.

Congrats to the Astros, Yankees, Guardians, Rays, Mariners, Blue Jays, Dodgers, Braves, Mets, Cardinals, Padres and now Phillies on going to the 2022 MLB playoffs ('offs)!

Wow, the two longest playoff droughts in each league snapped with Seattle and Philly. Well deserved. Hope my Astros win again (not just to piss off everyone else here). That being said, I wish all 12 teams good luck.
