Ravens going with my personal favorite combo this weekend-

Only thing wrong with the black pants is that they're always paired with black socks imo. I generally don't like plain pants but it works with the lack of stripes and color blocking of the jersey really well. Slap the tapered stripes from the helmet onto these, use the purple socks to avoid the yoga pants look, and they'd be by far the Ravens' best combo.

Hopefully the Browns go with orange pants for this game, that'd be an amazing color matchup.

This is the most that Carolina has worn white at home in a regular season. The Panthers got a lot of home games early, so that's why they did WAH as much as they did. Normally, they would do 2 or 3 games.

They probably are doing it against the Bucs because Tampa Bay is wearing their white tops in the second meeting. It could be that the Panthers are doing it to return the favor.

The Panthers would regularly wear white at home for daytime games through week 8 or 9 throughout the 90s. People here often fixate on what historical precedents a team has set for themselves, and for better or for worse, this is who the Panthers are.

While it would look better with purple socks, the Ravens are the only team that I don't mind going with the solid-black look from waist to toe.  I can't explain why, but I think it's fine for them (and them only.)

The purple over black is also my favorite look for them.  They really don't even need white pants.

I think it looks fine if not great for both the Ravens and Jaguars home jerseys because they have a precedent for prioritizing black in their black helmets with black facemasks (Honestly, any team could look at least decent if their shell matches their pants and face mask matches their socks. Could be a rule of thumb.) and their jerseys are cool, unique colors that pair well with black. Doesn’t work at all for their aways, though, because then it’s just an all black and white affair.

Disagree on the Jaguars because their teal is so light that it actually emphasis the yoga-pants look, as opposed to the Ravens where the whole uniform is dark.  I do like teal over black for the Jags, but not with black socks.  Or, at least not solid full-length black.

I have to also disagree with your proposal for a new "rule of thumb", at least as it is applied to teams with with the same color shell and facemask.  I dislike the Bills with solid white socks, and any of the gray-masked teams wouldn't look good.  My "rule of thumb" is that the socks shouldn't match the pants, with the exception of the Ravens when they go purple over black.  It's an admittedly imperfect rule.

Have the Jaguars actually worn all black?

Not yet this season, but they have done it several times in the five years (!!!) that they've had this set:

Just because they have them on a mannequin(s) doesn’t mean that they have a full roster’s worth of inventory (plus considerable extras) in the EQ room.  They may well be something that the team plans to actually wear at some point, but it’s very possible they don’t physically have the inventory right now for one reason or another.

They’ve worn them during training camp. I think they have enough…

I hate the all-black cardinals tops and bottoms, but I really don't hate that black helmet with red tones. In fact, I kind of love it.

I don't want to see their black helmet over a red shirt over black pants, but I kind of do.

So basically you want the Falcons to adopt that red-flake helmet and go back to red tops, because they're the only team that should have black helmets and red tops.

From photos and videos I’ve seen, it seemed like only a few players were wearing the new gray pants during training camp while most were still wearing the old gray pants (plus it was only the defense wearing gray pants, anyways) . They may well have a select number of pairs, but again that doesn’t mean they have all of the necessary inventory (~100 pairs when you consider all of the extra pairs needed). Who knows, maybe they’ll break ‘em out at some point but if not, it’s very possible that there are logistical hurdles at play.

I… like this? More so than the Ravens all black.

Still doesn’t hold a candle to their original all black set.

Here's a hot take:

The black Cardinals helmet works way better with the color rush than the regular black alt

Definitely. The regular black alternate is garbage. How does any ‘Cardinals’ jersey not have red on it? And no, I’m not counting that pointless, barely visible piping. The numbers may be less legible on the Color Rush, but it’s a better jersey for their brand without a doubt.

Actually, this was their original all-black set:

(Technicality, I know. 😁 )

As strange as it looked at the time, I remember really liking how against that black background the teal took a backseat and the gold popped off that set...in my mind, that's what a true alternate was supposed yo achieve. I do wish they would have changed the gold in the sleeve cuffs to teal, though.

This set debuted around the same time as the Washington Capitals' third jerseys, and looked remarkably similar in terms of color usage--that's probably another rain I was so enamored with the Jags' alternates then and even now, now that I'm looking back at this.
