Shmee
I'm already upset by the idea that the New York Giants are taking advantage of a storm-torn city by adding an extra home game to their schedule. You're kidding, right? New York is taking advantage of New Orleans. The Giants offered to host the Saints because they know that it is difficult to arrange stadium accomodation for a football team on short notice.Paul Tagliabue made the final decision to have the game played in New York, which by the way is the biggest city in the United States. quantum
According to ESPN.com, the Saints will approach the NFL about playing the other seven home games in San Antonio. FiddySicks
uh I heard it was so destroyed by the refugees inside that its virturall uninhabbitable. Uh, please don't refer to them as "refugees." Why not? Why is it that Americans have a problem with that word? Do we think we are too good to have refugees at any time no matter the circumstance? These are people who have been forced from their homes and are in desperate need of food, water, and shelter. I dunno about you, but that sounds like a refugee to me. Plus, i think that instead of worrying about what to call these people, we should worry more about how to help them out. Plus, calling them refugees is better than calling them poor, recently made homeless people is it not? WJMorris3
THe Saints shouldn't play in San Antonio - there's not enough luxury boxed there.Nope, the only fair solution might be to let them play a road schedule. Besides, it doesn't make that much difference to teams like the Jets and Patriots. They have home games against the Saints anyways, or the Seahawks, who don't play them at all. They are refugees, since they are taking refuge elsewhere than where they are from. It's just another PC thing. So what's correct -- displaced Americans? slapshot
"Evacuees" works for me. All of them have evacuated the ravaged area."Refugees" does sound a little third world-ish. And it usually associated to very poor people, not just those displaced by a natural disaster. I heard it's at 7:30 p.m. on ABC. Then it's switching to ESPN when the original MNF game starts. I guess the ESPN crew's going to call the game. JetsLuvver
Why hasn't Rice Stadium in Houston been considered as a temporary home for the Saints? It has an NFL-type seating capacity, and is available for Sundays. Is it because it still uses the old Astroturf?

cyandlux
I think Sportsline says they are going to push for San Antonio AND the Superdome is going to be imploded...which leaves them out without a home for more than just this season.Edit: Sportsline has changed their story and is exlcuding any mention of any thing Super Dome related. Must not be substantiated yet.

Besides, it doesn't make that much difference to teams like the Jets and Patriots. They have home games against the Saints anyways, or the Seahawks, who don't play them at all. The problem there is that they'd still lose money, since it's not likely that the host team would give them 100% game revenue. At least let them have a temporary "home," because people in San Antonio would likely frequently attend NFL games in their hometown.
Mings
I would say let them play at Reliant Stadium when the Texans aren't there. That way the evacuees can have some sort of resemblance of normal life by seeing the Saints play.
