yh
Sugar Bowl- Shreveport, maybe cancel the New Orleans Bowl for the season With the Rams out of town on New Years weekend, I'd like to see St. Louis step up and offer to host the Sugar Bowl. As for the N.O. Bowl, that should certainly not be canceled and should be relocated, perhaps to Baton Rouge. I would not like to see another bowl game in Shreveport as it could arguably harm the Independence Bowl's ability to draw fans.
sacker12
If the New Orleans Bowl is cancelled, my guess is that the Sun Belt and C-USA teams that are supposed to play in that game will be in the bowl games that have at-large bids.

FiddySicks
How is the humidity in New Orleans/Baton Rouge any different than Jacksonville, Tampa, and Miami? Or Auburn, Tallahassee, and Gainesville? Well, the difference in New Orleans is that it is in a bowl, so in most places you would have a breeze to cool it off a bit where any breeze in New Orleans is ten feet above your head so theres not much relif from the heat. Plus, on top of that, there is so much swampland near the area which also contributes to the humidity. but im not sure how it compares to any of the other places youve mentioned bucfan, the correct answer is "There is no difference." And I like how you answered Hedleys question without really answering it. What a magnificent read. WTF is with WSU fans? Look at the layout of the city. Its in a bowl. Any breeze that would come off of the coast goes over your head, which is different than other cities such as Tampa, Miami, Gainsville, and the others which are built on flat land like most cities. New Orleans is a dug out trench. On top of that, although im not too sure how close a city like Auburn Alabama is to swampland, im guessing that it wasnt as close as New Orleans is. ninersdd
Too bad the hurricane nailed the Superdome the way it did, memories like Vinateri's kick, Horns' huge game(the cell phone), and the Saints first win vs Rams now are all cut out because the Superdome looks like its getting the wrecking ball. slapshot
It wasn't "destroyed" by the refugees. There was no water pressure anywhere in the city. Hell, there was no water anywhere in the city, except the filthy effluence coming form the lake and river. The toilets got full. They couldn't flush the waste in them, so it piled up. Compound that with 20,000 stinky filthy evacuees, a roof that had been damaged from the storm, and flooding inside, and you have a building that is currently in no condition to play host to any team in any sport. There are so many factors to consider in the condition of the Superdome, but to say it was destroyed by the evacuees is pretty harsh. NJTank
Well it was not their fault but just teh whole situation also the roof leaking caused some flooding and the hot smolthering conditions made it a sespoll of disease. ALso their were some fires started and murders and suicidies and its just one big mess, after this is over New Orleans will likely no longer be capable of supporting major team sports, and I feel with in 5 years the Saints and Hornets will be elsewhere. Although I felt the Saints were going to move soon any way maybe LA. Maybe if anything the storm could cretae a situation where the feel obligated to stay, but would teh city be able to rebuild the dome or build another one I dont know and it wont be a priority. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
oz615
The GEC is offering the Hornets a temp. place to play.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...5090301251.htmlHURRICANE AFTERMATH: The Nashville Predators are offering the displaced New Orleans Hornets a chance to play 12 games this season in the NHL team's arena.Hugh Lombardi , general manager of Gaylord Entertainment Center, said he has contacted the NBA about the offer. New Orleans Arena is next to the Superdome, and the NBA has informed teams the Hornets may relocate."We wanted to be sensitive to the whole issue and to see if we can help out if we could," Lombardi said. "And also, if we could get some home dates here, it would be great for the city of Nashville."But Nashville's arena has limited dates available with the Predators, Arena Football League, college basketball and concerts already scheduled. The Hornets could not play there the entire season. . . .

JPBlueHen
Yeah, give them one endzone for their 'home' games. I'm already upset by the idea that the New York Giants are taking advantage of a storm-torn city by adding an extra home game to their schedule. But since it is being played in the Meadowlands, it would be pretty rediculous to have the Saints insignia on any of the end zones in Giants Stadium and could create an uproar among fans in the New York-Northern New Jersey area, which, by the way, is the nation's largest TV market. PeytonManningRocks
Here's an idea, if they're not going to let Saints season-ticket holders to purchase tickets there, why not let Jets season ticket holders go to this game? Heck, if enough of them dislike the Giants, maybe that would make it a home atmosphere for the Saints.

This has been debated before. How is this any different than a Giants-Jets game during the season, where either of those two teams plays an extra "home" game?
