The 1s are very solid 1s. I also am of the notion that you shouldn't have a backup team if you are a diehard.

Sports about which I actually care:

NHL #1: Nashville Predators

NHL #2: When the Preds aren't playing, or are knocked out of the playoffs, I cheer for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Of course in the case of the playoffs it doesn't extend my season by much.

NRL #1: St George Illawarra Dragons

NRL #2: It would be sacrilegious to choose more than one Rugby League team here. It helps too that all the other teams are bad :P.

International Hockey #1: Unless Australia is playing (Olympics for instance), it's gotta be the Czech Republic (Gotta support Tomas Vokoun)

Int. Hockey #2: Finland (Kimmo Timonen is a total champion).

Sports in which I have a passing interest

AFL #1: Sydney Swans (Closest thing I have to a home team)

AFL #2: I used to like the Kangaroos (the blue and white really looks good)

NFL #1: Tennessee Titans (Closest affiliate to the Predators)

NFL #2: I do like the Broncos (nice colours and logo).

NBA #1: Seattle Sonics

NBA #2: None.

NHL #2: Blues (were my team in Minnesota's NHL "dead period" thanks to a video game)

NFL #1: 49ers

NFL #2: Whoever plays against the Packers (to heck with the Vikings!)

CFB #1: Minnesota

CFB #2: Michigan (Ann Arbor is my future home with this job I'm getting)

CBB #1: Minnesota

I'm a hometown guy: Cubs, Bulls, Bears, and Hawks. That's it and that's all. I really don't understand how people can root for different teams all over the country (unless you've lived there before).

In my case, I just ogt sick of everyone talking about all the hometown teams, in my case Philadelphia. So when I was little, I picked a favorite player, and then whoever they were on became my favorite team. Also, for those who say you can't have a 2nd favorite team...I may be speaking only for myself, but in most cases, you have a favorite team, then a few teams that you just root for. For example, I'm a huge Red Wings fan, but I also like to see Montreal and Clagary succeed.

NBA #1 - Minnesota Timberwolves

NBA #2 - Any team coached by Phil Jackson (he is a good North Dakotan, you know)

I'd be with you on Phil Jackson if he coached anybody but the Lakers.

Here's my list:

MLB #1: Twins

MLB #2: Pirates (though I've always liked the Mets)

NFL #1: Vikings

NFL #2: Steelers

NHL #1: Wild

NHL #2: Penguins

NBA #1: Timberwolves

NBA #2s: Maybe the Pacers and Warriors

NCAA #1: University of North Dakota

NCAA #2: University of Minnesota (everything but hockey)

EPL #1: Manchester City FC

EPL #2: Liverpool

Minor League Baseball #1: Albuquerque Isotopoes

Minor League Baseball #2: St. Paul Saints

And for those critics opposed to having a #2 team, that's just silly. Having another team to enjoy -- even modestly -- doesn't mean you have any less devotion to your favorite team. Suggesting otherwise is ridiculous.

Besides, it isn't much fun to watch a game with ambivalence. I'd rather have a dog in the fight, so to speak, even if it's not my dog.

You used to hold me

Tell me that I was the best

Anything in this world I want

I could posses

All that made me want

Was all that I can get

In order to survive

Gotta learn to live with regrets
