2007 NBA Playoffs Offical Thread

They need to stop comparing him to MJ. He isn't close, last time I checked he didn't have any championship rings, and he will NEVER have six.

I watched the game and I have to agree. The quality of play was pretty lousy. Marv Albert calling it one of the greatest performances of all time was laughable and predictable. LeBron had a nice game but to compare it to the all time performances is ridiculous. Tonight was the first NBA game I have watched in a very long time and I was astonished by how bad the game has become. LeBron scored 48 points in a game that looked like a matchup of the Clippers and Cavs from 1983. LeBron's performance has to be adjusted for deflation. The quality of play tonight was about 65% of what it would have been even 10 years ago. It was definitely one of the great performances in today's NBA. All time? Not so much. Helluva game by the kid but let's not get carried away.

Last I checked, Jordan didn't have any when he was 22 either. Besides, if the Spurs win the Championship, Robert Horry would win his seventh ring. Is he better than Jordan? Point is... team accomplishments do not measure an how great an individual is. The only thing more ridiculous than those that compare Lebron to MJ are those who believe that championships measure the greatness of an individual.

Besides, give Lebron a Scottie Pippen and we'll talk.

I have to say it was an INCREDIBLE performance last night. This was against the "mighty" Pistons Defense. Not Game 1 vs the injured Wizards or Game 2 against the aging Nets. This was Game 5 at The Palace. It was something I'll remember for a long time... actually forever. It was a "Magic Johnson-like" performance... a "Jordan-like" performance. That's all it needs to be. A great night for a great player in a huge game. This is great now... Saturday night looms even larger!

I don't get why all of the media is "searching" for the next Michael, or Magic... or Bird. (Well, actually I do.)There will never be one. There doesn't need to be one. It seems that they need to fill air time on their shows with all of the comparisons. "Who is better?", "How would LeBron do in that era?" I know that I don't care!! As a Cleveland sports fan for all of my 37 years...I would like a Championship for my favorite basketball team. Simple as that. I don't need them/him to tie or beat Jordan's 6. I don't expect them to fill the rafters as they are in Boston. I don't need the greatest player of all time. Just one Championship.

...and we all know "IF" it ever happens.... the first words spoken will be "Yeah well... they're not going to repeat!!" That would be fine by me.

Awesome game for LeBron. Although it may not seem like it was one of the best, considering it was IN Detroit, against a team that hangs its hat on defense, and a somewhat proverbial "Slaying of the Champion," you have to put it up there. Certainly not the best, but at least Top 15.

Spurs vs. Cavs in the NBA Finals.

Wow. This is basically an example of two teams who hit the NBA Lottery and their fortunes changed tremendously. We've already seen it with the Spurs, and the Cavs were mediocre at best before LeBron. Then LeBron comes and they're in the finals. Crazy.

So yeah, the Cavs are about to get dumptrucked by the Spurs though.

Well the Spurs hit the lottery they were good before Duncan, then lost David Robinson one year due to injuries and got lucky enough to win the lottery.

The Cavs were an outright bad uninteresting dead franchise, who is now one of the top teams in the NBA and will be for years to come now.

Love this matchup. Its the battle of two great players with completely opposite mindsets. The young flashy game paired with the amazing maturity of LeBron vs the pure game abilities yet immature stature of Duncan. Looks to be a decent matchup going into it.

But I agree with Flame. Cleveland better grab the Tylenol.

For what it's worth, The Cavs are 2-0 against the Spurs this year. I think they have a puncher's chance.

I have ripped the NBA on this board since I joined up two years ago. I watched games 5 and 6 and found myself doing something I haven't done in a very long time...I was enjoying NBA basketball. Go Cavs.

what the :cursing: happened detroit?

oh well. props to the cavs and to lebron for getting this far, but i think i'll be the only person in ohio rooting for the spurs. not because the cavs beat detroit to get in, but because i happen to live around cincinnati and yesterday saw and listened to so many born again cavs fans it made me sick.

so i say spurs in 6 with everyone else, but what i REALLY want is spurs in 4.

Remind me again why when I turn on E*PN2 in order to watch The Thursday night MLS match between Houston and Colorado, I have to put up with the first 6 minutes of the first game of the NBA Finals?

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

It is currently 84-58 in the 3rd Quarter. Spurs are up. They took out LeBron in the 1st Quarter when he had two fouls, and the game went to hell from there. Cleveland is grossly mismatched.

The Spurs are up 39-34 at halftime of Game 4 (ew). They are a half away from winning the NBA Championship, and ESPN is in meltdown mode. Heard absolutely nothing of how the Spurs are winning the series, but how the Cavs are losing the series. They've been complaining the whole finals.

And it's so great. :D
