Gothamite
There is a differenceIt always amazes me how a small change can so completely ruin a lovely uniform. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
SmoothieX
Agreed. When the Marlins wet predominantly black a few years ago, the new road unis were obvious. I knew something was different with the home unis but couldn't place what. Then I realized they went black pinstripes and wordmark on us.I loved the mid-90s Marlins unis. I like the years they had the black hat with the home uni, and the sleeveless unis with teal undershirt and cap.I detest their current alt with the chunky unreadable lettering, and how the road uni is just a ripoff of the home now. Also, anyone else remember this short-lived alt on Beckett with the F logo on the chest? philly97flyer
Hopefully the throwbacks will be the vests with the black undershirt, that way, it can differentiate even more from the current look.
Sodboy13
Hopefully the throwbacks will be the vests with the black undershirt, that way, it can differentiate even more from the current look. That's the look they sported when they won Game 7, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it.The Marlins really, really need to bring more teal back into their look. At this point, they're a silver and black team unless you look really close. It's a look that's bland and generic, and I still don't understand why the black alternate doesn't have any front numbers.(Proud owner of a teal BP jersey) On 1/25/2013 at 1:53 PM, 'Atom said: For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. hjwii
Riddle me this...Oh, and let me preface this by saying I am a life long Indians' fan...But, isn't it a lil tacky to be celebrating your World Series win the weekend the team you defeated is in town?Or, is it just sour grapes on my end...? DEAD! The Red Sox opened in Fenway in 2005 against the Yankees, with the 2004 banner. Isn't that rubbing it in as well? I saw, I came, I left.
SouthSidePride
The white sox wore 1959 throwbacks against the dodgers in 05. I suppose when you loose it is a bit different... HereCometheHawks.net
CubsFanBudMan
Also, anyone else remember this short-lived alt on Beckett with the F logo on the chest?I wasn't aware they had officially scrapped it. That came with the 2003 overhaul. They wear black so much I suppose it's hard to squeeze an alt home pinstripe in.
illwauk
It seems like a lot of MLB teams that changed uniforms in the 90's for the sake of gettin' rid of a "dated" look would actually be unique now if they'd have just stuck with them.Like if teal didn't have the whole "early 90's" stigma attached to it, the Marlins probably wouldn't have made the changes they did. And today, they would actually stand out instead of lookin' like low rent Chisox.Same deal with the Brewers throwbacks. If they stayed with them, they'd be the only blue & yellow team in baseball instead of being part of the half of the league that uses navy. Sure, the ball-in-glove might still be somewhat dated, but at least it's better than what we have now.
STL FANATIC
Sure, the ball-in-glove might still be somewhat dated, but at least it's better than what we have now.Wrong (in my opinion). (But that's technically another discussion for another thread--one of the many we've had before). Tel you the truth, I've never seen that jersey. They shouldn't have scrapped it, I actually like it more than their primary home jersey. | BROWNS | BUCKEYES | CAVALIERS | INDIANS |
rmackman
Actually I think they're expected to wear these: "Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be eaten. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up, you'd better be running." - Unknown | Check out my articles on jerseys at Bacon Sports

chakfu
The only good thing about the Marlins existence in general is that the F hat looks sharp and appropriate when worn by one of my favorite rappers named ngafsh...I hate everything else about the franchise, mainly because I'm an Indians fan
TheOldRoman
Also, anyone else remember this short-lived alt on Beckett with the F logo on the chest?Yes, and I didn't realize they stopped using it. It is kinda pointless in my eyes. It is the same color, same pinstripes, and same numbering as the regular home jersey. The only difference is the logo. I could see having it if it were a vest (and I think that would work well), but having this jersey alongside the regular home is pointless. southernyankee
Why ??? The difference is not noticeable enough to even warrent doing it. If they were going to go throwback - do it all the way and go 1993. The average fan (not those on this board) will barely if even notice a difference. southpawstu19
does anyone else realize that the mariners also used to have a teal alternate jersey and cap...i mean i guess both teams felt it was too "softball" like...at least thats what i heard here down south

That said, while I'd love for the Marlins to bring back more teal, I think navy works a lot better for the Mariners than teal did.
FiddySicks
I remember during game 7 of that series, despite all the excitement, all i could think about was how awesome the vests looked. I kept looking thinking to myself, thats gotta be one shirt with black sleeves. No way would a team wear TWO shirts!!!!!! Cianfrocco
During their parade and championship ceremony at the stadium, they wore the teal BP jerseys. That could count as a throwback, right?http://editorial.gettyimages.com/Search/De...amp;id=51642793http://editorial.gettyimages.com/Search/De...amp;id=51642794
