Blues vs. Hawks

The Blackhawks are just on a one game road trip now, which is usually when a home team will wear their white jerseys. Because it's just a one game trip, the Blackhawks only have to bring the red jerseys with them.

so why don't the blackhawks just bring their white jerseys and leave their home jerseys at home?

Blackhawks 1

Blues 1

1st intermission

Because the Blues probably requested that the Blackhawks bring their red uniform. As the Hawks are on a 1 game trip the complied. Why is this brought up every time a team wears white at home?

I personally think the home team should wear whites at home the majority of the time. but thats just what i grew up with

I'm used to that too, but since they switched to darks at home I actually prefer this way. Seeing the red sweaters at home just seems more appropriate, maybe it's just cuz I'm such an NFL fan and got accustomed to it from that. But the colored sweaters just seem more representative of a team's identity; they are brighter and bolder and more symbolic IMHO. White seems like a better road color, because every team has a white jersey, like the way every team in baseball has a grey jersey. Besides, the reason for wearing whites at home is antiquated anyway-it was just so home fans could see a variety of different colors in the road team's uniforms when they went to games. With cable and the internet, this is really a pointless trend anymore.

They just interviewed Kane at the intermission, and judging by the close-up, his jersey is made of the old fabric. Him being a scorer/not overly physical, I assume this must mean the whole team reverted, like the Capitals and others have done.

In the Tampa papers it was mentioned that the Lightning just switched, "joining the 29 other teams". I take it all 30 teams are wearing the old material now.

well i'm used to watching basketball so i am used to being in an arena and wearing white. plus the stars current home set looks like an alternate road uni seeing how its black and says dallas on the front so id much rather see them in white.

And if so, the revolutionary moisture-wicking fabric developed over the course of a couple of years by Reebok has been officially pwned, and all of the drastic changes to teams' uniforms have been for naught.

So which was ultimately the worst idea?

1. New Coke?

2. New NBA basketball?

3. The Edge jerseys?

For some reason, it didn't seem strange to me while watching the game. Weird.

The final score sure looked nice. :D

so why don't the blackhawks just bring their white jerseys and leave their home jerseys at home?

This is what drives me bonkers about inconsistent rules in sports leagues. Either the rule is hard and fast, or it isn't. Didn't the NHL go to the dark jersey at home because of all the tom-foolery involving alternate jerseys being worn at home and on the road in the first place??

Of course, I don't like that the NFL allows teams to wear white at home in the first place, so maybe I'm biased. But at least in football I can understand it: wear white at home if it's extremely hot or humid. What is hockey's excuse...or for that matter basketball??

Well, one argument is that, if the home team wears colored and the road team white, you see the exact same colors every game at home. So if you're a Blues fan, you see blue vs white all the time. Aswear if you have the home team in white and the road team in their colored unis, you have white vs a different color all the time (except of course for repeated colors on various teams.) A lot less boring that way.

Oh, and another argument...

BECAUSE IT'S NORMAL!!!

:D

hmm..call this strange if you will, but...

maybe the darker jerseys can affect performance.

i remember playing NHL08, (i know not exactly the best judge) but still..

when i was the home team (in darks) it was a huge psycological advantage for me, cause the areas close net seemed more stacked, crowded, and jumbled with dark jerseys, instead of white jerseys on white ice, so there seemed to be more presence near the net on offense, and more defense on the other end.

if anyone has any idea what i am saying, could you see my point?
