See Red Posted September 16, 2008 Share Posted September 16, 2008 So the Red Sox got their first win in Tampa this year tonight by way of a route of the Rays, which moved them into a tie for first place. Given the number of home/away games for each team, I'd have to think the Red Sox would be the favorite to take the East at this point. Kazmir gave up 9 in 3 IP, hopefully a sign of things to come for the Rays pitching staff as we approach October baseball. A playoff spot is all but guaranteed at this point, barring a huge collapse. I'm one phan that wouldn't be opposed to following the lead of another division rival, load up for one title run, and then have a fire sale if the cost isn't sustainable over the long term. Cujo Posted September 17, 2008 Share Posted September 17, 2008 I don't know why you Mets and Phillies fans are gripping so hard, 'cause in the end, both teams are going to qualify for the playoffs.Houston was in the hunt, but after their performance against the Cubs in Milwaukee, you can pretty much stick a fork in them.Milwaukee's right up there as well, but they just canned the manager who got them where they are and still have 6 of their last 12 games against the NL-leading Cubs.
