CC97
I can't see Toronto having two hockey teams,...Montreal, definitely. They've done it before. (Habs and Maroons, Habs and Wanderers)You realize that was almost 80 years ago right? If you want to play that game, Toronto had several teams at once in the NHA, you know, the pre-NHL.2. Change the colors too (The bulk of Toronto residents are Leafs fans, and they REFUSE to see any team that shares a color scheme with the Habs and Sens)Thanks for letting us know, now we can go ahead and actually be like thatI don't see this group getting a team -- but they do present an interesting idea, with all the charity tie-ins - would it work? I'm not sure, but it's neat. --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram

Saintsfan
Maybe its a serious idea, and they are trying to get it out quickly to jump all over the Balsille moving the Coyotes to Hamilton story? They do seem unusually organised for an expansion team, and the thought of 2 teams in the Toronto area might make this less likely to happen. 30,000 does strike me as a huge arena. I don't know how it compares to others in North America, but the o2 in London is 20,000 and despite a decent layout, always seems to me that the nose bleed seats are quite a long way from the action. Personally, if as I suspect it is a Balsille's relocated Coyotes vs this, although I like the whole charity thing, I would still prefer a Hamilton Blackberries (or whatever they call themselves) to a Toronto Legacy. Leave Toronto to the Leafs, and exploit the small town vs big city thing to create a new canadian hockey rivalry would be my choice. 2011/12 WFL Champions
BBTV
As a primary logo? maybe. As a jersey crest? Horrible. How will the skyline reproduce on small things like patches, letterhead, etc.? Not well I'd guess. The jersey just doesn't look "NHL"ish (not that that's stopped some other teams from releasing crap - Nashville, I'm looking at you.) For a market like Toronto, and a group as (supposedly) well organized as this, I'd expect something more classy and traditional. Perfect Zero
I'll be the first to admit I don't know the first thing about hockey, but isn't the fan base around the Maple Leafs too big for something like this to work? I would suspect Canadian fans (in general, not Montreal in particular) are ones who don't switch allegiances at the drop of a hat.

While it is true that teams do need some kind of instant support, they have to take a long term outlook and figure that the next generation (people who are young kids today and don't have those deep allegiances to other teams yet) will grow up rooting for their new local team, and then their kids will too, and so on. powersurge
I wish they'd incorporate the verticle red and white stripes into the jersey somehow like many soccer clubs. That would allow them to make the crest smaller and move it to the upper left or right chest area.Just a thought. A simplified crest with an "L" or "TL" would be a smarter choice for the uniform IMO. xxjdm66
Two NHL teams in Toronto? I don't think it's going to work. The Maple Leafs have too many loyal fans. It's kinda the way it is here in L.A., where the Lakers are L.A.'s NBA team and then you have the Clippers the bottom dwellers and a after thought. In other words the Legacy will be the Clippers of Toronto. Redskin IS a racist term, no matter how Daniel Snyder tries to spin it.

The owners seem more than willing to pour money into the Toronto Legacy with all of the money they promise to donate, they don't seem too motivated by profits. If they spend and get the right hockey people to run the team, they could be a winner. The Clippers are "little brother" to the Lakers because they have historically sucked. Hell, here in Michigan during the 70s and up to the mid 80s the Red Wings were a joke, and look at what success and Mike Illitch's checkbook did for them in this town?Winning would make the Legacy popular.-Dan PotD May 11th, 2011looooooogodud: June 7th 2010 - July 5th 2012

Brian in Boston
Not only is the team name an abstract singular noun, it is also implying a legacy for a franchise with no history.Once again, the "legacy" being referred to in the team's proposed name has nothing to do with any implied past history for the franchise. Rather, they're planning on establishing a legacy of giving to various charitable and non-profit organizations.
