Toronto Group Seeks NHL Expansion Franchise

Damn, well everything looks pretty bad. I'd rather see another Canadian city get a team, before Toronto. Choosing a colour scheme of a rival team is a bad idea, could've had green or something, and been original. The logo is generic, and worst of all, they didn't save in .PNG! ^_^

Anyone have the stadium renderings? I'd love to see them.

So this basically has no shot at happening. Don't get me wrong I think Toronto will get a second team and it will come through expansion but this won't be that bid. This all looks like someone's day dream.

First they call a press conference to announce an expansion team before even contacting the NHL. Don't tell me the NHL wouldn't at least listen to them, they have met with people from Winnipeg, Hartford, and other Toronto groups (and other cities) in the recent past about possible future teams.

Second a 30,000 seat arena? Are the going to build a small football stadium and put a rink in the middle? Someone would probably have a better view at home watching on TV that a cheap seat in a 30,000 seat arena. One would almost be up by the blimp taking areal photos. I quick check of wikipedia this would be the largest arena in the world.

*very slow clap*

Is this a WHA 2.0 team or something? Because I thought they folded a couple of years ago.

TOTAL FICTION!

If this actually happened (which it never will) I would hate the Toronto Legacy more than I hate the Maple Leafs. And trust me, that's saying alot. Also, am I the only one who thinks they are kind of ripping off the original Ottawa Senators identity?

You can view the plans for the arena here: http://www.studiock.ca/

Click 'Projects in preparation'.

Check out some of their other projects for added hilarity.

Mall restaurant, pool patio, 30,000-seat indoor arena... Doesn't seem like too much of a leap there.

Also, if the arena isn't getting done till '15, where do they intend on playing in '12? Ricoh?

They surely could have come up with something better than the Legacy. Plus it would look bad if that's your team name and your a losing franchise.

Clearly, the team name isn't meant to have anything to do with the proposed franchise's on-ice prowess. Rather, the name references the legacy of giving that the franchise plans to establish to benefit charitable foundations and non-profit organizations.

As for the logo, it would be improved by:

* Eliminating the hockey sticks;

* Sliding the banner down to the bottom third of the shield;

* Replacing the alternating red and white striping within the upper two-thirds of the shield with an enlarged depiction of the Toronto skyline.

I'd also suggest going with a different color scheme; perhaps a palette of Green, Silver, Charcoal Grey and White.

Sorry to go off topic, but what is this board's strange facination with charcoal grey? The only teams I can think of that use it are the Philly Eagles and the Toronto Blackjays, and IMO on those two unis, it sucks.

Charcoal, IMO, looks good when it's the darkest color in the set. The thing with the Eagles and Blue Jays is that the charcoal in those sets were muddled in with black. If a team had charcoal with lighter colors, I think it'd look nice.

Of course, that's just me. It's probably the same for some people too. There's always the members who just have strange fascinations with things (like me with the 90's Devil Rays, or Gothamite with the Beer Barrel Man) as well.

1. Change the name to the Toronto Legends (This reminds me of the "Springfield Excitement")

2. Change the colors too (The bulk of Toronto residents are Leafs fans, and they REFUSE to see any team that shares a color scheme with the Habs and Sens)

3. Matter of fact...CHANGE EVERYTHING. The Leafs are Toronto's team, and nothing's gonna change that! If you want to enhance a Canadian legacy, you'd be better off trying to build this thing in Quebec City!
