The Patriots have traded DE Richard Seymour the Oakland Raiders for a first round pick in 2011.

After being dealt, Seymour is refusing to report to Oakland.

Can't say I blame him. It's like he got traded out of The NFL.

I really think the Raiders have the ability to surprise a lot of people this season. Not saying they'll make the playoffs or anything, but a respectable year really isn't too far out of the question IMO.

Are you forgetting that JaMarcus Russell is their starting QB?

And why did the Raiders cut Garcia anyways? I was led to believe that he was going to be their Week 1 starter.

So if Seymour absolutely refuses to show, do the Raiders get their 1st round pick back from the Patriots and the trade is negated -- Or have the Raiders just screwed themselves again?

If Seymour doesn't show, he's out for the 2009-10 season. Idk if the trade gets nullified, though..

I think the Raiders will get a decently high supplemental draft pick, similar to what was talked about by Tampa after the Jake Plummer deal (not sure if they ever got that pick though...).

...And it appears Mandoofus has decided on a starter. It will (reportedly) be local golden boy Brady Quinn.

Have fun with that on Sunday, purple people...

This isn't your fault, it's the media's. Brady Quinn is not from Cleveland, he's from north Columbus, which is about two and a half to three hours from Cleveland. It just bugs me when everyone tries to paint him as this hometown hero when I sat in art class with him in high school and I lived nowhere near Cleveland.

I meant "local" as in "product of Ohio", not necessarily from "Cleveland". Probably should have included that in a bullet comment.

Either way it goes...it would not surprise me one iota if "local" media and fan pressure played a part in this "decision" somehow.

Does it really matter? The end result is the same either way. This is The Raiders we're talking about.

For anybody that still cares about petty stuff that really shouldn't have any bearing on actual results of football games but some people believe did, LenDale White said yesterday that if he got the opportunity, he'd stomp on the towel again.

I honestly wanna see it. Of course he'd probably get a beer shower from the only people who saw this as offensive (a.k.a. the Steelers fans), but it'd be worth it for comic relief, and continue to bolster my theory that this is going to be an extremely bizarre NFL season.

It's back after 6 months... the League people love to hate the NFL is back on.

I don't "love to hate" the NFL, I just LOVE it, straight up! Thank goodness we have REAL football back, 'cause college football just doesn't cut the mustard for me anymore.

just my luck, I'm gonna be up at the cottage all weekend with the wife. pretty sure all that's up there for TV is bunny ears, so I MIGHT be able to pick up a CBS feed.

Fortunately, (or actually, unfortunately) I'll be home by Monday night to watch the Bills' annual ass-whooping in Foxboro.

That would be something funny to see. I'd PAY to see that.

Of course...LenDale probably wouldn't make it out of Pittsburgh alive. He'd be getting a whole lot more than a beer shower, that's for sure. Bear in mind these are the same people who trashed the front lawn and taunted the wife and children of their OWN QB after he threw a game-losing pick-6. (And the Jags ain't even stomp on no towels then.) Shoot...they'd probably try to topple the Titans' team bus before it left the stadium.

I was supposed to be going back up there tomorrow, depending on how work goes. I tell you..there's no better place to get your party on than in Pittsburgh after they done won something big. Conversely...there's no WORSE place to be in after a loss either...of any sort, but especially of this nature. Bus drivers run over folks crossing the streets downtown, people throw stuff at you for no reason, no one says anything at work, everyone generally walks around with the mean-mug on...it's crazy.
