I don't think the Browns wore their throwbacks at all this season, just throwing that out there.

Mangini was also the one that liked the brown pants, so if he is fired, I wonder if we will still see the brown pants?

Yea you're right, about both points you made.

I would like to see hem bring back the Orange pants.

They flow, overall, much better than the brown pants, in my opinion.

And actually, in Madden 10, they have an option for orange socks [which were meant to be paired with the orange jerseys, they have the same striping], I've been wearing them with the white pants and jerseys.

It looks really slick, in my opinion. The socks match the helmet perfect.

Orange helmet, white jersey, white pant, orange socks.

If I had my way, here's what the Browns would wear:

I'm with you on that LEWJ.

I don't want to see any more orange socks however. The 1984 uni with them was awful. No wonder they only had it for one year....

They NEED to bring back the orange pants, but keep the brown pants as an option. I never liked the orange jerseys, mainly because of the drop shadow numbers. I think if they brought that orange jersey but with brown numbers it would look awesome. That would give them 3 jerseys and 3 pants with a lot of cool combos they can wear.

Do you mean like the this one with Otto Graham?

I know Packers fans don't like hearing it, but this is proof that the team would be wise to usher in some "Aaron Rodgers era" unis. They don't have to go that far from the Ron Wolf era/bastardized Lombardi era unis, but something that wouldn't look so awkward and forced on modern templates.

The same can be said for the Steelers, Browns and every other team that still wears the same basic unis from the 60s and 70s.

can the bills just go throwbacks full time already?

And give up the ugliest uniforms in the history of The NFL? Why would they want to do that? :D

Seriously though, why they haven't already is beyond explanation.

Because that standing buffalo is dated. Seriously, I'm fine with the jersey, I'm fine with the pants but that helmet needs to stay in the past. I simply don't get the appeal of the standing buffalo at all.

I love the argument that the standing buffalo is dated. As if the current logo isnt. I'd be fine with an update to the red buff a la detroit, but a silhouette is far less dated than the buffalo busting through the finish line they have now.

The standing buffalo is dated though. It's stagnant. Design wise it's just not up to par. Maybe if they hadn't made the change it would have achieved untouchable status by now, but what's done is done. They made the change to a much better, dynamic, logo. The standing buffalo just looks amateurish by comparison.

I actually like those Ron Wolf uniforms. The Pack should have made the change when they had the chance.

The Browns brown pants wouldn't look so bad if they had side stripes on them. Heck, if the league would let them (which they don't), a brown pair of pants with stripes could look good with a brown helmet with the same stripe pattern as an alternate. Nonetheless, orange pants would look much better than even striped brown pants. I'm personally hoping Mangini gets canned so we don't have to be treated to solid, plain brown pants. If stripes on the sides of your pants is any kind of discomfort, then you aren't focusing enough on playing football, which was the case for the majority of this year for the Browns.

I'd like to see the Saints use that old "brassy" gold again; that's a distinctive shade you don't often see in sports. The least the Bills could do to make me happy is to go back to the Kelly/Thomas/Smith era uniforms; even using the correct shades and not wearing unitards would be an improvement.

I'd like to see the Rams go back to their old blue and gold; the look they have now is dull, just like the building they play in and their on-field performance. What uniform/color set reminds you of when they won Super Bowl XXXIV? Not what they wear now.

What set reminds you of the Super Bowl XXXVI upset, the dismantling of the team, and the current cellar-dweller/unsure-future-in-St.-Louis state of the team? This "Millenium Blue" and "New Century Gold" set they have now. Some new millenium to kick off.

Man, barring a relocation (where they could change everything if they wanted to), the Jaguars will wear the bland junk they have now for 4 more years. Identity lost and yet another blown chance to really look unique, if you ask me!

I wouldn't be surprised if the Panthers did anything this offseason, though I don't see them doing much. Maybe they'll introduce black pants, or make the blue jerseys the main color (which doesn't have the dated look the blacks have), and make some other tweaks to their uniform.

I'd like to see the Ravens introduce their old black pants with the solid white or white/purple/white striping.

The more I see these sorts of things, the more I'd have to agree. Those shoulders look cartoonish in that picture, and by that I mean the stripes look imperfect and drawn on the uni. I don't know if that makes sense or if it's just the lighting, but it looks like part of him is from the Wii rendition.

And the fact that stripes no longer fit on sleeves add to your point.

Sleeve stripes are essentially simply a logo that is slapped on to the jersey. It might as well just be a patch. These teams should have official alt logos that consist of merely a striped rectangle.

Time to lose the stripes, or go to the under-sleeve stripe idea. Don't make the sleeves mandatory, but make it so that any player that chooses to wear sleeves must wear the "official" ones that would contain the superfluous stripes.

With the new Meadowlands Stadium opening I would expect the Jets and the Giants to have new patches on their jerseys for that.

IIRC, I remember seeing somewhere on this board (NFL 2009 Changes thread maybe?) that the Giants were going to break out throwback uni's from the 1975 season.

I would love to see the Giants throw back to 1975. I love that logo.

good idea, but that would lead to even more of a mismatched look then whats going on now with all of the cut off and shorter/tighter sleeves.

At some point in time the inevitable will happen....sleeve stripes will have to go away or change in a way that makes sense with modern uniform cuts. The NBA is a perfect example of how to do this well. Many teams (Lakers, Pistons, Sixers, etc.) have adjusted their uniforms to allow for the modern design but still keep a somewhat "traditional" look that goes along with their team's uniform history.

I wish the broncos use the current orange jerseys as the primary

Steelers go back to the block numerals

Browns dump the brown pants forever

chargers replace the current powder blue with the old school powder blues but i don't think that will happen.

Broncos: I couldn't agree with you more. Use the navy blue as an alt and pair it with the navy pants.

Steelers: Rounded or block font, I'm comfortable either way. At least their current numbers match those on their helmets.

Browns: If they added stripes to the brown pants, they would be 100 times better.

Chargers: Keep the current powder blues. They have arguably the best-looking uniforms in the NFL. The one thing I'd like to see them do is to get rid of the blue stripe on the white pants and leave the lightning bolt against a white background. Possibly do the same with the white jerseys.

Broncos: I'm with both of you, the orange needs to be the full time home jersey.

Steelers: I actually really like the latest update the Steelers made to their uniforms. I prefer the current number font to the block.

Browns: At first I thought the brown pants needed some stripes, but the more I think about it the less sure I like how it would look. In my opinion they're fine as is, for the most part. The uniforms are traditional, which fits the team, but the brown pants add just enough variety to keep it fresh. I do think they need to change one thing though, they need a logo. Calm down, not on the helmets. They just need to designate a primary logo for networks, websites, team gear, etc... to use. I would like to see the =B= mark get the nod and get placed on the jerseys in a similar position to what the Steelers and Jets do. That way the team gets a proper logo and the helmets remain true to tradition.

Chargers: First they need to drop the wordmark under the collar. It's pointless for a team like the Chargers. Then they need to go back to the number font they used on the previous set, but keep the current colour pattern. Finally they need to straighten out the lightning bolt pattern on the pants. Once they've made these seemingly minor tweaks the current look will be perfected.

I agree that the Browns need a different logo for the merchandise. I don't mind the helmet logo, but it gets a little boring on some of the merchandise they sell. If they were to adopt another logo, I hate the football with the B in the middle of it, stupidest looking thing I've ever seen if you ask me. They would need to use the dog or elf, I love the elf, but we would probably be laughed at even more if that was our logo, so I think the dog would work nicely.

I'm the opposite. I can't stand that dog logo. The "dog" imagery is only related to one subsect of the larger Cleveland Browns fanbase, those guys in the "Dawg Pound," and from what I've heard from other Browns fans, they do not represent the majority of the team's fanbase. It would be like Redskins adopting a pig logo because of those hog guys, or the Raiders petitioning to use Darth Vader.

The elf is nice, but it's a catch-22 if you ask me. On one hand the original mark is dated, and would need to be cleaned up/streamlined a bit ala the Cardinals' new logo. Yet on the other hand, the very concept of the elf logo is dated, and updating him to look more "modern" would come across as silly.

I like the =B= logo because it's simple and has a traditional feel to it. The name Browns will always have an ambiguous quality to it, so why try to nail it down to a concrete image like a dog or elf? Why not play up the "football team" aspect?

I just never liked the football B logo, don't know what it is. But, I don't think they will be doing away with the helmet anytime soon anyways.

I am one of those people who love the throw back look of the Browns. They have never changed it, and i hope they never do. That being said, I am one of those people who the brown pants have grown on them. I just wish they would add orange and white stripes to the side to keep it consistent with the other pants.

I with they would bring back the orange pants, too.

Last, i think the orange jerseys looked really nice, except for the shadow on the numbers. I wouldn't mind seeing the orange jersey for 1 or 2 games per season. i think the die-hard traditional fan like myself would not mind it, while still making the casual fan happy. Plus it would bring in some revenue for people wanting to buy the orange jerseys.

I love the Dawg logo. Now, i do NOT want it on the helmet. The helmet should always be orange with brown and white stripes. However, i love the "Dawg" being part of the Browns logo. In the '80's (i believe), the Browns defense was refereed to as something similar to "a pack of wild dogs." The fans at the time then kinda adopted that same idea, and thus... the world famous Dawg Pound.

A lot of people don't understand. In Cleveland, we had a nice baseball team for 10 or 12 years, and the Cavs are in the top 3 teams in the NBA for a few years... but Cleveland is a hard-nosed, hard-working town, which is why we relate to much to the hard-nosed game of football. The name of the foot ball stadium is CLEVELAND BROWNS STADIUM... not Gillete Stadium, Viagra Field, Cambel's Soup Arena. The Fans are so much a part of the team like no place else.

Thats why i love the Dawg being a part of the Browns.

I really hate the whole "we're a hard working, blue collar town" act. It gets used to describe every city. I hear it all the time to describe Philadelphia when people are talking about the fans bond with the Eagles. Every city has white collar and blue collar people who are fans. What are they going to say - "we're really a laid-back lazy town"? There are plenty of white collar software developers I work with who are every bit as big of a fan of the Eagles as anyone is of any team, including the Browns. Just like there are a lot of fans of the Bills, Steelers, Packers, etc. who are every bit as crazy about their teams as Browns and Eagles fans. Getting dressed up and wearing halloween costumes to games isn't the be all end all of fanhood.

The notion that someone can bond with a football team (comprised of multi-million dollar athletes) because they roll up their sleeves and pound steel all day is simply ridiculous... as is the whole "it's different here" thing. Everyone likes to pretend that their fans are more a part of their team than any other, when the truth is that a lot of these cities are very similar when it comes to their teams (they're not all similar, but a lot are. I certainly wouldn't compare Cleveland, Phila, Pittsburgh, etc. to Jacksonville, St. Louis, etc.)
