The Austin American-Statesman is reporting that Jerry Gray is going to the Titans. No link yet.

Local TV just confirmed it. Damn this will hurt UT recruiting.

At what point does Mack Brown simply throw up his hands and leave?

And thanks to that, Duane Akina is going back to Texas. Arizona's recruiting is going to be hurt as well.

I'm a little surprised this development hasn't gotten more discussion here. It seems the Atlanta Falcons want to move out of the Georgia Dome and play outdoors again:

[T]he Falcons and the government authority that oversees the Georgia Dome have formally announced that an outdoor stadium is feasible and they’re engaged in talks to see how they can make it happen.

And the Falcons apparently didn't even have to threaten to bolt for Los Angeles first. Somewhere Zygi Wilf must be banging his head against a wall and wondering why he didn't buy that team instead of the Vikings.

The Falcons have been contemplating moving to an open air stadium for a couple of years now, even after the renovations to the Georgia Dome. The shock is that it seems like they wouldn't be moving to the suburbs, but instead it'd be built near the Georgia World Congress Center, which is right across the street from the Dome/Philips Arena/CNN Center.

Either way, really surprised that they're going to go to open air & just ignore the option of a retractable roof. Odd.

Guess the NFL told them they're never getting another Super Bowl. Ever.

/Don't they get Final Fours though?

Is the Georgia dome really that outdated already?

I wish them luck because it probably won't happen anytime soon. Atlanta's local news reports almost every day on state and local governments facing extreme budget shortfalls and here they want taxpayer money for a stadium when they just renovated the Georgia Dome? One local station ran an (admittedly unscientific) poll and the sentiment so far is 90% against using public money. I like and respect Arthur Blank but c'mon, man.

Sorry to see Shockey go although his production has been low and he can't stay healthy. Remember the name Jimmy Graham; he made some amazing plays at TE last year as a very raw rookie and the Saints expect big things from him this season.

Well, its roof is basically a glorified, gi-normous circus tent with a recent history of collapsing in storms at inopportune times. (At least it took a foot of snow coupled with high winds to bring the Metrodome down.)

I'm not sure any stadium would take a tornado hit and survive intact. And being a hard dome, it actually stayed up (which is good, as the SEC men's basketball tournament was being played in there at the time.)

ESPN had a column about sports cameos they'd like to see in series TV. Even I had to admit this one was funny.

===

"Grey's Anatomy"

A flood of horribly injured New Orleans Saints are rushed into Seattle Grace Hospital after getting run over by Marshawn Lynch. When traditional medicine fails to save them, Seattle head coach Pete Carroll steps in and tries to heal them with the power of positive thinking! They all die.
