The glass behind the outfield wall kinda reminds me of Miller Park but smaller and Minute Maid Park but with an orientation that isn't completely forced. If the Marlins can actually draw a large fan base, which I don't see why they wouldn't with a park like that, that place is going to be louder than a MoFo.

Gotta admit, it seemed like in a blink of an eye the Giants went from struggling around .500 to suddenly 8 games over and a 3 and a half game lead in the division. 9 straight now over the A's in San Fran.

This team wins in so many crazy ways it's almost hard to believe.

Best ballpark other people's money can buy.

And still, nobody will go to the games. How the hell did this stadium get public funding!?

They're banking on the novelty of a new stadium in town. Attendance will probably rise as people will want to check out the shiny new stadium. Then, of course, the Marlins will have to win their fans' trust back by not having a fire sale every five minutes in order to keep butts in seats.

The Nationals pretty well disproved the New Stadium Bounce past, I dunno, like the first half of the season or whatever.

Park looks really nice.

We'll see if it helps out the Marlins attendance any. I can't see how they could draw in the place they are playing in now. Never been to the city, but from what I can tell its in a bad location, and playing Miami is basically like playing in Brazil. You need an indoor facility there or a retractable roof one. Playing nights games, just doesen't work. Your getting alot of rain and humidity no matter what. Not to mention the obvious fact that its a football stadium.

Very few southern teams draw though, and I don't think this will help out much, but we'll see. Figure a boost of around 3K fans per game or so shouldn't be out of the question though. I feel like they should be able to crack at least 20K a game with a better stadium, and I'm talking long term as well, not just a one year new car smell boost. At the very least it will be a far more pleasant experience for the fanbase they already have.

I like that. Team not playing well, blame your best players, they're the root cause of it all. I'm sure without guys like Beltran, Wright and Reyes to hold them back the Mets would be in first place.

I think Wilpon is largely speaking out of frustration. Nobody is interested in becoming an investor in the Mets. (He's not looking for a part owner, he's looking for somebody to give him money but have no say in the club's day to day operations.) He knows he's become a priah among the fanbase, and he knows he's probably going to have to eventually sell the franchise. He can't blame himself because that would imply he should sell the franchise, so he blames everyone else around him.

As opposed to the well-oiled machine they were before this?

No kidding. Things got ugly in Mets land on April 11, 1962, and it's stayed that way ever since with the exception of two years (which, come on - a New York team in a salary cap-free sport should have more than two championships).
