So which should run the asylum then?

The owner? The coaching staff? The GM?

Players don't have the connection to teams they play for that they did decades ago. In the era of free agency a team is just a company to work for. Which is fine. Not criticizing that mentality at all.

Still, it means that players shouldn't have much of a say in terms of a team's brand and identity. They're probably going to be gone in a few years anyway. What do they care about a team's long-term brand and identity? So no, they shouldn't run the asylum, and they shouldn't have a say in how the uniform is put together.

I have never liked the look of any uniform that uses 3 different colors for each part of the uniform. Either have the helmet match the jersey or the pants. You could also have the pants match the jersey but that only looks good with white jersey and pants.

We've got a few posters on here who've said this, which always surprises me. What about the Browns in orange/brown/white, the Bengals in orange/black/white, the Broncos in blue/orange/white, etc? For that matter, the Steelers road? The Rams and Redskins road when they wear their gold pants? The Giants road? That's a lot of nice looking uniforms (well... excluding the Bengals).

For me, three different colors is OK as long as either the pants or the jersey is white. Three different non-white colors or white helmet over dark/dark (Titans... ick) is out of the question.

I'm certainly one of those posters. Football uniforms that have three different colors always look worse to me than those that have a match on at least two of the equipment items (and shoes don't count here IMO). Sure there are a few exceptions, but they're rare. And of all of those examples you posted above, the only one that looks decent to me is the Browns. Road options get a bit more of a pass too as teams are only allowed to wear white on the road. Sometimes this works, such as with the Giants (I HATE the Redskins road look with gold pants). And the absolute Worst look around is when you have three different colors and the helmet is the lightest part of the set, ala titans, Chargers throwback look with white helmets, powder jerseys, and gold pants. Just awful.

They wore their silver pants. As always they looked great.

Just an awesome, awesome look. I wish they would have won to cement them in that uniform.... Kind of worried they'll go back to the black. That said I think the silver is always in play because of the helmet and the black is a two times a year type thing

Since this a Panthers thread...

can anyone else confirm that ESPN using their old logo on the scoreboard tonight? I'm not watching in HD, but I feel like I'm seeing protruding whiskers from the north-side of the face, which isn't the case with their present log.

I can confirm that for you. ESPN always seems to be slightly behind the times with logo changes. The Panthers and Seahawks logos are inconsistent throughout the site. I've seen both the new logos and the old logos and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to why they use them.

Man the Panthers are so close to having one of the greatest modern-classics.

The only things that bug me are the pointless white pants and the striping on the helmet.

Use the silver pants for all sets and they'd look fine, black pants as an alternate.

Just reverse the helmet stripe colors so they'd match the pants. D'oh!

BROWNS | BUCKEYES | CAVALIERS | INDIANS |

Wouldn't surprise me. They used this logo when talking about the Grey Cup at halftime.

Looks like they have good taste. ^_^

/The Panthers' jerseys are really nice, but the one thing that bugs me about them more than anything is how the helmet stripe is black outlined in blue while the jersey stripes are blue outlined in black. Other than that though, it's always been a great look.

It was the old logo in the first half:

I never liked how the helmet striping (blue surrounding black over silver) doesn't match the pants (black surrounding blue over silver). If they can fix that inconsistency, they're golden.
