That seems like overkill. Granted I was young when this was the norm, but what's so wrong with a simple score bug/clock in the upper left hand corner of the screen with a simple graphic that showed up on the screen when needed to display stats?

Because social media.

If I could I would burn Twitter to the ground.

ESPN is doing something really cool with the BCS NCG by showing it 6 different ways!

ESPN must not have had any other things to broadcast that day... Which is worrisome. Remember when everything used to be on ESPN. Now they've got so little programming they have to air the same game on 6 different versions of their station just to fill air time. Kinda sad the death spiral they must be in.

Kind of an aside but pertaining to twitter and ESPN, I hate when they have random tweets by normal people during broadcasts. I don't care about the opinion of @Joe_Schmo123 on anything let alone anything sports related.

I don't mind this BCS blowout thing ESPN is doing. Giving multiple way to watch for whoever wants to.

You'll still have the regular broadcast on ESPN, no issue there. Hell, you can watch without announcers at all and listen to the game sounds on ESPN Classic.

Analysts breaking down the game as it happens or whatever or whoever else comes into the studio is probably a bit too much. I won't bother with it because I actually want to watch the game. I don't want people talking over the game action when I'm trying to pay attention. And if I really am craving for live stats in the game, I can pull up an app on my phone.

And I guess if I was an Auburn/FSU fan, the home calls would be neat to have. If I were them I'd find a way to throw it on my tv. That'd be cool.

I really don't see the big complaint about it. It's an experiment for ESPN to run, because really they're the only sports entity that can offer this. I think they're going to try this to see how well it works, and if it does, they'll bring it back for things like the NBA Finals and advertise it. It's an advantage they hold over the other sports networks. As for them having nothing else to run, I mean what else would be on ESPNU or Classic or Goal Line (Goal Line?) at that time, really? Why not get some more numbers on that channel they wouldn't have otherwise.

There is not much sense to program against what you know is going to win the cable night, even amongst your own properties. They are smart enough to premiere the new season of The Batchelor on ABC though.

That Monday night has just three NBA games scheduled and the NHL just four (two in Canada and two in NYC). FS1 is not running live ncaa hoops that Monday night either, which is traditionally Big East (even ND played last year before the BCS game).

I was of course being facetious. Sporting wise there's not much sense in programing against it particularly for ESPN given how much they paid to air it. That said as someone who won't be watching the BCS game I'm glad someone programed against it.

Last year's New Mexico Bowl had Arizona two touchdowns down with two minutes left to come back to beat Nevada, 49-48.

Yeah I was just about to bring that up. What's with teams blowing a huge lead with less than two minutes to go in the New Mexico Bowl?

Wazzu just signed up Leach until 201, so get ready for more years of 7 wins or fewer, Coogs.

It's crazy that Leach is still coaching them, considering that his contract ran up 1,812 years ago.

As he is a pirate, he will last 'til 2018 (what I tried to input via phone).

Considering what they were doing for the last decade, I think they'll be fine with that.
