I've never understood what that logo is supposed to mean - care to explain?

Supposed to be the trident. OR a shocker :P

It's called the pitchfork. Our hand sign at the football games is, literally, the shocker.

What would this Illinois staffer have done if the Illini beat someone not named Purdue?

The assistant director of player personnel and relations for the University of Illinois football team was arraigned in Champaign County court Monday after allegedly pointing an unloaded gun at another vehicle on Interstate 74.

Matthew Sinclair, 31, played linebacker for the Illini from 2001 to 2004 and was hired earlier this year as a football staff member. According to a police report, he was arrested around 4 p.m. Saturday after a driver behind Sinclair saw him point the gun out the window. The witness called 911.

Police pulled over Sinclair near Green Street after he exited at Lincoln Avenue, according to the report, and found an unloaded gun in the center console of his pickup truck, a magazine loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition in the driver's side door pocket and a set of brass knuckles.

"He said he had the gun because he was going to Purdue and needed it for protection," said Champaign County State's Attorney Julia Rietz.

Brass knuckles? Really?

Dumbass. Just because concealed carry was finally forced on us doesn't mean you can open carry in a vehicle.

My brain went blank when thinking of the word pitchfork. Guess that does it to you when you work 13 hours in a day

It's going to be morbidly hilarious when Bo Pelini is run out of town this weekend and Nebraska embarks on a months-long coaching search that sees them resorting for some coordinator with no FBS head coaching experience or the MAC coach du jour.

Fresno State 41 San Jose State 42 at Haltime. Both Carr and Fales each have 6 TD Passes!!

Game is on CBS Sports Network.

Ridiculous.

Fresno isn't exactly promoting their cause to jump back over Northern Illinois. Granted NIU would probably have to lose a game because the computers are head over heels for NIU for some ridiculous reason, but Fresno isn't helping itself with these tight MWC games.

I'd probably say the MWC is probably a better conference as a whole than the MAC is, and San Jose St. is the kind of team you could easily get in a shootout with but this definitely won't help their cause, their playing their way out of it as of now.

Ehh, the MWC is kind of down this year, with Boise and SDSU disappointing, USU losing Keeton, and Wyoming turning into a dumpster fire. And NIU's Iowa win is better than any of Fresno's wins. Honestly though, I'd be totally okay with the non-AQ's all being kept out this year, as none of them look BCS-ready.

Do they have to take a non-AQ if one qualifies? I'm pretty sure they have to, but I'm not 100% certain.

If a non-AQ is in the top 12 or is ranked in the top 16 and higher than an AQ conference champion, the BCS is obligated to take them.

And with UCF leading the AAC and being behind both NIU and Fresno, one of the two will make it. (Provided they win out. Fresno might just kill their chances today.)

Fresno did not help themselves, but the NIU rise in the computer polls was before Tuesday and their game against a 1 win W. Michigan team. BGSU winning the MAC East means a little less since Buffalo had a better SOS, but that game is not a lock as Kent State was favored over NIU last year.

LightsOut is correct. This new MWC is not as good as it was five years ago when the three power trams were Utah, TCU & BYU. The three best teams in. the American are better thanks the top three MWC teams.

I agree. But the funny thing is, that if you put those three back in MWC, you have the same thing. Five years ago was the pinnacle of these programs and now they are just "nice" teams. Utah and TCU are proving the fact that in a one-off game, they can play with the big boys, but week-in and week-out they are at best mid-conference teams, and BYU now that everyone can see them on ESPN, they are no longer this mystery team full of Mormons, they are exactly what TCU, Utah, are mid-conference team. They prove that with their Independent schedule, lose to Virginia, beat Texas, lose to Utah, Wisconsin, and Notre Dame. These are three programs that are "nice" second level teams, that will occasionally have good years. It's what Fresno State is. I was one of the biggest supporters of these teams, but they are what they are. I was wrong 5 years ago when I thought they could recruit and play with the big boys on a weekly basis every year if given the chance.
