For those who are forecasting a Rams implosion, the team hasn't really downgraded at any position and went 4-1-1 last season in the NFC West and 3-1-1 against those read option QBs everyone has been fapping to since the middle of last season. I'm not predicting a trip to the playoffs, but I think a team that hovers around .500 is a reasonable expectation for this season. They'll certainly be better than the Cardinals.

Colin Kaepernick will not best Matt Ryan two years in a row. If we get them again we take them down.

Don't worry about that. B)

But seriously, I'm jazzed about Week 1 because we're going to find out a lot when the Falcons go to New Orleans. I'm optimistic first because Atlanta has only beaten the Saints three times since 2005 - and one of those was on a missed chip-shot FG in OT. Then there's Payton's return and his and the Saints' desire to show Atlanta that last year - notably, a split despite the Saints' pathetic D - was an anomaly as far as Atlanta owning the division. The Saints have been deadly in such "we'll show 'em" games, for example their big win over New England on MNF or the stomping of Arizona by the "rusty" Saints (who ended the season on a 3-game losing streak) in the '09 Wild Card.

Gotta love high stakes right out of the gate.

When I saw the Cowboys in 1st, I stopped reading.

Do any of you realize the Cowboys, for the last two years, were only one win away from a divisional crown? The Cowboys being in 1st is not that far-fetched as in, for example, the Raiders winning home-field advantage in the playoffs.

The Bengals could have a big season if Marvin Lewis wasn't their coach. He coaches them out of games every year.

The Bengals lose the games they should, win the games they should, and every year they'll drop a couple games they never should've lost. If they stay healthy, if Dalton takes the next step I think they could at best go 11-5. The division hasn't been this poor in a long time so that's a plus.

I'm going into this season expecting at least a playoff win. They have the pieces to be a good team, but I don't think the people running the show know how to manage those pieces properly.

Granted, I can't recall every transaction that happened during the offseason (nor have I begun my Fantasy Football research), but these are my from-the-gut predictions using that website: http://clinton-morell.com/n.html?a=-paqqWmpqpqqpaqqqmWaqWapqqmqlqmmqaZVaqqplmqmpqamqqmapqmlpqqqppqqqaqpaqaapmqpmWqmqqmqqpC_

The highlights:

-My #1 seeds are San Francisco (14-2) and Denver (15-1).

-I have New England winning the AFC East with a 7-9 record. I also don't have much faith in the AFC East being any good.

-My other division champions are Baltimore, Houston, NY Giants, Green Bay, and Atlanta

-My Wild Card teams are Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Seattle, and Carolina.

-I have Washington and Chicago winning 10 games, and New Orleans winning 9, yet all three miss the playoffs.

-I have the Falcons going 12-4, with the losses coming to San Francisco, Green Bay, Carolina, and New Orleans...all on the road.

I don't know if you guys feel like this, but I feel there are, realistically, only 6-7 teams in the AFC that actually have a shot to make the playoffs (Denver, New England, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Houston and maybe Baltimore).

While in the NFC I think there are only two teams that do not have a chance to make the playoffs (Carolina and Arizona). Also, I believe there is only one division in the NFC where one team is going to definitively win it (Atlanta).

I'm a little curious about Indianapolis. That was one of the worst teams in the league in the turnover department last season (-12), and were in the lower 1/3 in pass and rush defense, as well as points per game surrendered. Those aren't stats that are indicative of long-term success.

To their credit, though, they have made a few solid off-season acquisitions to fortify that roster. And if Ahmad Bradshaw can ever stay healthy, that is one of the toughest running backs a team could ever hope to have on their roster. There's a reason that guy is a two-time Super Bowl champion.

Overall, though, can't disagree with that general AFC assessment. I'm not comfortable filling out final predictions yet (still have to look over the rosters and off-seasons), but there are two divisions that are basically locks (East and West), one division with relative certainty (South), and then the North being the one that can go any of three ways (though I personally don't fancy Baltimore in that race).

The NFC could conceivably see any of three winners in the East, two in the West, anyone in the South (disagree there, because I think Atlanta ran into a best case scenario of sorts last year) and probably only the North having a sure-fire pick with the Packers. The wild card race will be very interesting.
