TorinK92
This sort of makes me wish Drogba would find his way back to the BPL. Side note: He apparently signed a two year deal with Juventus today.
VictoriaGooner
With that signing, Juventus has become that much better offensively...especially in Europe for Champions League. Watch out for them in the 2014/15 campaign with Drogba there. THE SHORT FUSE | ARSEBLOG

lordsketor
Ecuador could not pull the trigger and they paid the ultimate price...... Many thanks to Discrimihater for making the sig.
AnythingChicago
What a great finish in the last minute or so there. Back and forth, and then the Swiss sub puts the nail in the Ecuadorian coffin. Switzerland only brought on two subs, and they both scored. Switzerland's game management won this match, both with the substitutions and playing two of those three stoppage minutes conservatively to play with the minds of Ecuador, and then risking it all in the last minute and making it worth it with the winning goal.Huge result for Switzerland, and a huge disappointment for Ecuador. IanC
Counter attacking football at it's best. The style has proved to be very succesful so far during this world cup.
Muggens
Heartbreaking for Ecuador. Great ending though.

Seadragon76
France scored a penalty for the first goal of the game, we all know what that means...France is going to meltdown like it's 2010, baby! I don't see that happening. Honduras is a good squad (Anyone that can go into the hellhole that is Azteca and win there is good), but France is better when it counts.Oh, and anyone want to guess how ugly it's going to be for Bosnia coming up here? HedleyLamarr
Does FIFA have some sort of goal-line technology they use for goal/no goal situations? ESPN had this animated version (very similar to that animation tennis uses on challenges) of that second French goal that showed goal/no goal.... IanC
France will dominate this now being 2-0 up. Stupid to say no goal when it hit the post with the technology when the ball was still in play and only when it crosses the line it changes it's mind. Should of only used the part when it crossed the line.Honduras were a hard team against England in the friendly but they really will kick out at teams if needed. Berlin Wall
Does FIFA have some sort of goal-line technology they use for goal/no goal situations? ESPN had this animated version of that second French goal that showed goal/no goal....Yup, this tournament is the premiere for the so called 'Goal Control' technology. So 'Wembley Goals' are no longer possible. I'm a simple person, I have a pixelated David Beckham as profile photo since 2010.
Jaffa
Does FIFA have some sort of goal-line technology they use for goal/no goal situations? ESPN had this animated version of that second French goal that showed goal/no goal....Yep, they do - I'm guessing the animation you saw was the same as we saw in Englandshire, it's supplied by FIFA's system. Benzema's initial shot hit the bar and didn't cross the line, the goalkeeper then bundled it over the line and it's an own goal. However, our commentators here can't get their head around this and have been shrieking a fair bit about whether the system can be trusted. The great buffoons.
Cujo
Technology says GOAL. Camera angles say NO GOAL. Either way, Honduras' goalie screwed that one up pretty bad.

Seadragon76
So not only does Honduras give up a rather dumb own goal, but they're down a guy to boot.Might as well just pour gasoline on them as well at this point...
HedleyLamarr
FIFA really ought to get rid of that "Own Goal" distinction unless there's clear intent that the defending team puts the ball in their own net. Give the offensive guys some credit for putting the ball in the right spot to be deflected or bungled or whatever.....
Cujo
I was wondering why Benzema wasn't given the "hat trick".... That's crap. Own goals in soccer should just be credited to the last offensive player to touch it, ala ice hockey.
