Sanic
Okay cool.Of course, "Chelsea Dagger" is about a prostitute. I don't know whether we should ban it for objectifying women or celebrate it for being sex-positive.Well, if the song was played in the same way during 2nd int as The Stripper, it probably wouldn't have the same effect. I don't know whether we should ban it for objectifying women or celebrate it for being sex-positive.Actually, it's about a burlesque dancer and IIRC, it's written about the lead singer's wife. The_Admiral
Anyway Chelsea Dagger should stay because it's the PERFECT goal song. Easy for drunken fans to "sing" along with. I'll never forget as long as I live hearing Chicago Union Station echoing with piss-drunken dah-dah-dahs...at 8 in the morning on a weekday. Would there be outrage if Pellico had played a few bars of "Legs" by ZZ Top before a woman shot the puck? What about "Brown-Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison? Would any song alluding to a woman's physical beauty be off limits in order to be compliant with social justice? Do you realize just how Victorian this can get? ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The_Admiral
I'm reducing to absurdity, yes, but how many people even know that the song is called "The Stripper," and how germane is that title when it's been used in media for nearly a century as an all-purpose "here's a sexy woman" motif independent of stripping? I think it was corny and tacky to feature it the way the Hawks featured it, but I don't think it ever demanded that the women in question take their clothes off. There are plenty of songs that explicitly do just that, of course, none of which are featured at any major sporting events that I'm aware of. Look, I'm glad they made the move, but there has to be a little bit of pushback on some of this rhetoric or the Social Justice Warriors will just run roughshod over everyone. This ain't the National Gothamite League. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

It should have been banned because its an awful song and Neil Diamond is a hack. The_Admiral
Yeah, and the whole song is about lusting after a child, isn't it? And yes, just one of the most grating songs ever written. That's funny because if the Red Wings miss the playoffs this season would be a complete success for everyone else in hockey.Have some perspective. You've made the playoffs 67 years in a row. It wouldn't kill you to go one year without it.

Still MIGHTY
Yeah, the Red Wings sure did suck last year. What with making the playoffs even though they had all those injuries, it was awful.
