Time to rebrand the Panthers?

OK we can agree  on electric blue but the statue is coming down. Why not a metallic blue helmet already??? There's a good chance he'll see his self-erected statue torn down before he dies which is very banana republican to say the least.

I think a metallic blue helmet could look super bad ass. I've seen some concepts with a black helmet that look really good too. Totally open to a redesign, as long as the core identity of the team remains the same. Black, electric blue, white (silver can stay or go) and a Panther logo. Hopefully they don't screw with the numbers too much if they change.

You can smell my bias through your screen? What bias would that be? This isn't an issue of objectivity, our opinions are all subjective. The brand has always been top tier for me, I really like it. The franchise has been to two super bowls, and 3 NFC championship games. The 1st super bowl was way before Newton and the first NFC championship was in the 90's. That's a lot more value than a lot of other NFL teams. We both seem to like the electric blue. The bold and underlined part is your subjective opinion, there isn't anything objective about it.

As far as the statue goes, I don't think what he did is enough to take down the statue, but I understand why you would think the stature has to come down.

Statues are for great people who are worth teaching future generations about, not for scumbags whose best accomplishment is bankrolling a giant corporation.

Taking out silver and going with black and electric blue is something I can get on board with. A metallic electric (too many modifiers here) blue helmet does have potential.

I've always wanted the Panthers to make their (far superior) blue jerseys their primary, so I suppose this is a good time to do it. Create a little separation from the Richardson era, without throwing away the two decades' worth of brand equity they've built up.

Frankly, I'd also ditch the silver, and just be an exclusively blue/white/black team - white helmets, white pants, white trim on the shoulder stripes - but that's probably an #UnpopularOpinion.

If the Panthers were to start utilizing a new secondary logo, I'd be in favor of them pulling out the "One Carolina" logo that they used for their Super Bowl run a few years ago. it was sleek, modern, and representative of both states. Very cool.

I was in to the UFL during it's short run. First time I saw the Tuskers helmets in practice photos I thought the Panthers should switch to blue helmets if they ever change their uniforms.

SN/OT: The NFL seriously needs to go ahead and adopt the UFL's overtime rules. That was the one thing that short lived league did better than the NFL.

I believe they still use it on their website on the bottom of the page. I totally agree with you, maybe use it for merchandising and social media.

Wow...

That's one thing the Panthers could switch to tomorrow and not miss a beat. I do wonder though if the blue helmet may be a bit too much blue (colors that vivid tend to maximize their effect in limited applications), but I can see the rest of that working pretty sharply--especially if they eliminate all the white.

I would say it needs white rather than silver (especially the numbers, which should remain white with electric blue outlines). But everything else is promising.

I think they got the logo right. just as the Jags did with the updating. The helmet stripes need to go... and a black helmet or even a Carolina Blue helmet would make for enough departure to be show change, without dumping the brand. .

Richardson is an old south archetype that needs to fade into the past, along with much of the good ol' boy behavior that goes with it. He is responsible for the team being there, but his behavior is not in line with what an NFL team needs to present.

Maybe change the logo, simply because the panther head in the shape of the Carolinas was Richardson's brand.

No matter how many times people point this out, I just don't see it.

Yeah, I can't believe that is actually a thing.  Seems like overactive imagination.

Just looking at the two graphics in this image shows that if they really intended to insert the state outline in the silhouette, they did a terrible job.

I would go with a matte black helmet for the Panthers. Kind of like what the Jags do without the two color BS. Then make the blue the primary home uni. That uniform has very little issues and looks great. They could do some clean up work and make it look fantastic. Black alternate that they wear once every few years (think Jags teal unis). Then, bring back a full bodied Panther as an alternate logo.

The Panthers are one of the few teams who got it right the first time. Distance themselves a bit from the past era a bit, but don’t get away from the classic, recognizable logo. I can see the next owners coming in and being “edgy”. I’m fine with a black or blue helmet. I’m fine with eliminating silver. Just. Don’t. Change. The effing. Logo.

If the Panthers do change their helmet color (which I wouldn't be terribly opposed to, but it's unnecessary), they definitely shouldn't change it to black. There are enough black shelled teams in the league, and one of them is a big rival. If anything, they should change to that electric blue color they have. That's a color they can and absolutely should own completely.

That being said, the panthers look great as they are. I still think the original logo was better, though.

I'd say if they changed their helmet, black is the only acceptable option.  For that reason, I hope they don't change it.

From a color perspective, I just need them to lose the white pants.  Black, silver, and maybe blue is all they need.

No, too dull and greyish. With silver, white, and electric blue in the palette, I need the None More Black of a true glossy black.
