I remember i loved this logo so much, a couple years ago i made a hockey version for a sim league that never came to be. I WISH so hard that i could find the original psd, but all i could find is this small png i had saved. BTW the only thing i dont like about the logo is the black. This is why I made my "version" the way I did...

The Mothership has this listed as an alternate logo for the 1998-99 ASG in Philly.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

It's too bad it's only going to be used on merchandise. I can picture a great looking shooting shirt with that logo on it. Of course, we'd never see that with the standardized shirts now, but it would look awesome if they could do that.

And the Sixers' version inside the key.

#Sixers source: Team will NOT use this logo. Was something they explored. MT @RealGM: #76ers' new Ben Franklin logo. pic.twitter.com/4PVE7TigZ7

If they won't use this logo, why did it get released on a logo guide on June 23rd?

It's a logo in the official capacity as being authorized for use on merchandise, etc. A lot of teams often have logos that are relegated entirely to non-uniform purposes.
