The 2014-2015 NHL Boondoggle

Although Dubnyk has been phenomenal this season, the poor guy is just simply wore out. How many more games can he go? If the Wild were to make the playoffs, he would be looking at 40+ starts in a row.

On another note...

It's time for the NHL to drop the damn OTL Point... There still would be a lot more teams in the playoff hunt if they strictly went by W-L Pct.

Tampa Bay should be leading the Atlantic right now. Where as the Islanders should be sitting 2.5 games ahead of Washington, yet they are the M3 seed as of now. Hell even the Blue Jackets wouldn't be eliminated yet, only sitting 2 games behind Boston's final spot.

Maybe one day.

Sharks and Stars both eliminated. Team Teal putting up a horrible effort against Dallas. They seem uninterested in giving their fans a good hockey game.

They could at least act like they care.

I'd say it's time to start over but they missed their window for a full rebuild so that they could give it a go with John Scott. I don't know what they're supposed to do now, but it won't smell very good, that's for sure.

Congrats Vancouver on likely clinching the Pacific's #2 seed.

But man-oh-man, the Pacific #3 and Wildcard #2 spots are still up-for-grabs. Each have three games left and play on the same days (tomorrow, Thursday, Saturday). Kings are tied with Calgary in points, but the Flames hold the tiebreaker because of ROW. Kings have the tiebreaker against the Jets in ROW but trail them by one point.

Oh, man. Every other day now will be so juicy to watch this week.

Minnesota sports rearing its head...the Wild are going to miss the playoffs.

Almost impossible for them to move up out of the wild cards but they're almost certainly in. This Flames/Jets/Kings battle will be interesting. Go the two Canadian teams.

The Dubnyk trade may end up keeping the Kings out of the playoffs. And we know the Kings will win the cup if they get in. It's good to have Minnesota contribute.

And as always, if the Wild do derp their way into the playoffs, they enter as the only team with no chance. They needed to wear Dubnyk down; He's starting to falter. They'll be a very easy out.

Seems like most of the powerhouses in the Western Conference are being called "easy outs..." Chicago because of the Kane injury, Anaheim for being coached by Boudreau, Nashville & St Louis for their lack of postseason success, and Minnesota for the aforementioned reasons. Will we see another 2006 playoff scenario, where all the lower seeds win?

Well, Chicago and Minnesota are going to be lower seeds. Maybe the entire Western Conference will collapse and the Rangers will just win the Cup automatically.

Out West there doesn't appear to be a clear cut favorite.

Anaheim is the hottest and probably the most consistent, but they've shown to be beatable.

St. Louis, as shown in recent years, doesn't seem to be cut for a deep run.

Minnesota looked to be unstoppable, and had they kept up that run, could've done some serious damage.

Nashville could surprise some folks.

Vancouver and Calgary have their weaknesses.

Winnipeg beats some solid teams. They look to be built to win a playoff series, but how deep they go depends on the play of Pavelec, which most of the time is stellar.

L.A.- if they can still manage to sneak in, can never be overlooked. I think they could take anyone in the West in a 7 game series, except maybe Chicago.

I'm still sticking with Chicago. They've got the experience, depth and a very solid goalie. If they can get through the first round and get Kane back for the second, they've got probably the best chance to come out of the West.

In the East, I think it ends up like this:

M1. NYR

8. Detroit

A1. Montreal

7. Pittsburgh

A2. TB

A3. Boston

M2. Washington

M3. NYI

Why do I fear a Vancouver type season from Sharks where the team implodes and miss the playoffs plus trade players for below their value?

Nailed the first part at least.
