The 2014-2015 NHL Boondoggle

Yeah the refs are rigging the game for a team whose U.S. market consists of some scattered contrarians in North Dakota.

Rigging? Didn't say anything of the sort.

But they did completely screw the Blues out of at least a point tonight. It was the worst officiated hockey game I've ever seen. Unbelievable.

The only saving grace is it hurts LA.

Why the :censored: do you want to play Minnesota in the first round?

Who do you want to play? Turns out all the playoff teams are tough matchups. I'd like to play the one that had the worst season AND isn't Los Angeles or Chicago.

Actually I'd be fine with Chicago as a first round foe.

You think the Penguins are feeling the heat? How about the Islanders?

They just had to get to OT- and Halak with a Dan Patrick THE WHIFF special

Even if he had that whiff in OT, they'd have clinched a spot and it would have been less of a YE GODS moment

For those playing along at home, the West could be decided on Thursday. The Canucks clinched tonight, the Flames and Kings are playing each other and the Jets are playing the Avs.

The Jets and Flames clinch with any form of win, no matter who wins the other team's game.

The Jets can also clinch if the Flames win in regulation.

There are other scenarios above my paygrade if the Kings win so I won't even try to figure it out.

I'd suspect the West winner comes out of the Central and since St. Louis is just the San Jose of the Midwest and Nashville has yet to get past round two. They're also 4-3-3 in the last ten, which doesn't bode well for them.

As for the East, I have a feeling Tampa will be in the final four, probably against one of the Wild Card options. Would be cool to see the Islanders get in, but their goal differential is one of the lower ones in the conference and I suspect some of their luck has worn off.

If the Kings lose, the Jets and Flames are in

If the Kings lose in OT/SO, Calgary is in and the Jets need 1 point vs Colorado/Calgary or Kings loss vs San Jose Saturday.

If the Kings win, the Jets need a win or two points vs Colorado/Calgary, and Calgary needs to match or better the Kings result on Saturday vs San Jose. OR again, a Kings loss vs San Jose on Saturday.

C'mon Winnipeg, chase off the ghosts of Waddell and Zhitnik and Modry and Bergfors and every other mis-step and make the playoffs.

Quoting for posterity.
