Nike, Texas deal not renewed (yet)

Nike will allow their exclusive contract negotiating window to lapse on Oct. 1st, meaning that Texas will be likely be getting bids from Adidas and Under Armour. Nike retains the right to match any other deal but Texas resigning with them is no longer a guarantee. With the type of money being thrown around at the tradition-rich schools, I imagine any deal with Texas will be in the same ballpark as Michigan or Notre Dame.

If Under Armour gets Texas, thats ok.

If Adidas gets Texas, good god.

I've been thinking the same thing. I'd hope that if Texas went with Adidas, they'd tell Adidas that they would have to recreate their uniform as is it right now and also not to create some funky one-off stuff that looks like garbage on their other schools.

Adidas actually has numerous templates, none of which are bad.. It's just a shame that they push their shockweb/primeknit on everyone, and their new metallic heatpress numbers/stripes with slashes are pretty bad, but they are fully capable of making a quality uniform, they're just trying to keep up with their own "technology"

This season, Wisconsin has gone back to a generic Adidas template, and IMO they look much better without the tire tread.

Uhg. I hope they don't go to UnderArmor. I hate to say it, but UnderArmor produces some steaming piles as well. I haven't really seen many uniforms that I like. Notre Dame is nice (hard to screw up) and Northwestern isn't bad. I don't like Utah's look and Maryland is a joke.

It doesn't matter which company they go with as Texas will NOT be doing anything crazy. They will have the the same football uniforms as always.

Guaranteed they will do something stupid and/or crazy for at least 1 alternate. Look how bad ND's alternate is. Look how bad the Gothic Northwestern uniform is.

I saw on Twitter that Texas cancelled their meeting with Under Armour. It looks like they will be resigning with Nike.

Nike playing defense against ua and they can easily afford to keep their elite schools.

I have a strange premonition that Adidas will prevail over Nike with the Texas apparel contract. God I hope not!! Everybody assumed Miami and Arizona State would re up with Nike and that didn't happen, and Adidas acquired both of them. I just can't imagine what Texas would look like if Adidas gets the apparel rights. Not good.

Texas has been notorious for not wanting any crazy alternates on the field. Nike pushed hard for a black uni about 10 years ago and even sold it as a fan replica, but Texas wouldn't let it be a game uniform. Texas even has a crazy nike practice uni now with black sleeve caps, but they'll never see gameday action. I don't see Texas letting anyone mess with their core look no mater who they go with,
