Thanks buddy. ?

No problem :P

The Royals are wearing the gold logo from the ring ceremony on their batting helmets. That's a nice touch with the gold trim on the caps this year. Take note, Padres. This is how you do the little things correctly.

So, this is strange.

I didn't notice if he was in pre game ceremonies or not, but I hope he pitches just to see that.

Padres have special home unis for this season for the ASG, and cant even wear them jn the game cause the NL is the road team at Petco lol

but these special grey ones look pretty good. Better than the home whites

I don't understand why they can't make these their road uni or, at the very least, an alternate. I know they've already got enough softball tops, but this look is fantastic.

They probably didn't even think about that until, like, four days ago.

Make that the primary away, and keep the home, and you've got a winner for life.

even without brown.

I just read this about the Padres uniforms, and I'm wondering if any of it is true.

Quote

It’s worn at home because the game is at their home, regardless of who the designated home team is. The reason they did not change the other uniforms is because they’re clearly doing a complete rebranding after this season, and you can’t keep a set of uniforms for only one year (hence getting the special-event waiver from the league for the home jersey).

If so, the whole "special-event waiver" thing is about the most Padres-y thing I've ever heard.

From memory, I think something came out about how this year was a trial to see if the fans wanted blue and gold, or a return to brown.

Thoughts

- All Star game hats continue to look stupid. Just wear the damn regular caps!

- The Royals gold lettering on the batting helmets doesn't look awful. I don't hate it.

- The Padres are the dumbest team in baseball. They introduce yellow back in the color scheme, but leave it off of the road uniforms for reasons that make no sense to anyone. They host the all star game in the first year in the new unis and feel the need to make special gray versions of their home uniform that include yellow. Just use those as your road uniforms, dummies! Why make it so hard on yourselves?

- the socks Manny Machado is wearing look terrible. I'm not looking forward to these Stance socks being more prevalent and creating more inconsistencies.

- the atrocities of the Dbacks road uniforms are magnified when placed directly next to actual Major League uniforms. Can't wait until they change those nightmares.

Worst year for asg caps.

Also, manny has been wearing stance socks for a bit, and they remain solid black. wouldn't be surprised if they just made regular socks, and nothing fancy.

Ugh.  I watched the softball game and had a lot of trouble seeing what team each person was repping.  It took me a moment to realize that it was because they were wearing the All-Star caps instead of the regular ones.  This is the first time I've seen this.

It's unfortunate that this was done with the game caps, but what's especially mystifying is that it doesn't really have anything to do with the home of the game and didn't seem to get much fanfare except for one person who posted it on here.

I didn't realize until I looked at all the caps side by side that so many are just the regular logo in gold rather than uncolored versions.  Some are okay.  The Rockies' one is weird to me, because the gold looks more yellowish.  It gives me memories of Oakland's old black alts.

The most unfortunate looking one is the Boston one, though.  You need some red on that thing.

At least we get another view of how much better a C cap looks with an outline.

On another topic of things that look good, the logo on Stanton's jersey looked good last night.  I can't find a good picture.  This is the best I have.

Am I the only one who, whenever he sees this logo in color schemes with less variety, says "Huh.  This looks like an improvement."  I don't know what it is, but I've felt most of their special event versions have looked better.

I think  I  could  run the  pades  better  than currently and the first thing  I would  do  would  play  an old timer game  at qallcom and return to the  thowbacks full time

Can that park still convert anymore, or has it been locked into it's football configuration since the Padres moved out, like many other multipurpose parks did when they were down to one team?

Wow.  I didn't even realize that until you mentioned it.  I'm so used to reading people typing like that my mind just autocorrects.

I was not very impressed by the caps at all. They almost looked like those gas station team knock-off caps you buy at a Flying-J in Idaho or Utah. At least that was the impression I got when watching the game. The only thing missing is the Velcro strap in the back.

I think this whole special caps/AKA more merch to sell thing's gotta stop. It's gone too far when, say, Andrew Miller looks classy Yankee pinstripes from the neck down and I-bought-this-cap-with-my-hot-dog-combo-a-mountain-dew-and-a-BIC-lighter-all-for-$11.25 from the neck up.

The quoting system removed the explanation, but it just doesn't make any sense at all to me.

Basically, they designed a special gray uniform to wear for the All Star Game.  They then petitioned the league to allow them to wear their "special" uniform "every home day".  However, since they don't wear gray at home, they had a white version of their "special" uniform created to wear at home.  So... their "special event" uniform that they received the exception for isn't really the one they would wear for the actual "special event".  Brilliant.

The only way I think this has any credibility is the fact that it has a "SD" logo on it, which is traditionally a road mark.  So it's possible, that the uniform was designed as a prototype for a new road uniform, but they couldn't get the permission to wear it on the road, so they worked around the rules to wear a white version at home as a test.  If in fact they are changing their identity next season and opt for blue/yellow over brown, I'd imagine the ASG uniform would be the new road, and then yet another new home would be designed, but with the PADRES wordmark rather than the road SD mark.

I was under the impression it was the other way around. As in, they got the home uniform approved and then realized they'd be the road team in the ASG and created a matching road jersey.

I have no idea if that's accurate, but that's how it appears. Either way, the Padres look like a joke.
