Red Comet Posted February 6, 2021 Share Posted February 6, 2021 I don't know how Andy Reid raised his kids and frankly, I don't care. I'm not cheering on his parenting skills, I'm cheering on his coaching. He could very well be as neglectful as people say, but as far as I'm concerned, once a kid turns 18, their decisions are theirs, not the parents. Also, a lot of small business owners are like this too. And I don't mean scammy bull like Amway. They invest a lot of hours into their work because they want to provide the best life possible for their children but wind up so exhausted from their work that the kid winds up alone a lot, raised by their grandparents by and large. I know this because I was one of those kids. I knew my parents loved me but I got like 2 hours maximum and by the time I was a teenager, I didn't really want to be around them. So the most I got to be around them was on trips. On the flip side, I also was and still am a lot more independent than a lot of my peers because of it. So, that's my reasoning. BBTV Posted February 7, 2021 Share Posted February 7, 2021 I've been pretty vocal about my opinion of Reid considering the fact that both kids have had multiple criminal offenses (one pulled a gun on people in a Target parking lot!), drug issues, and one even died. Here's the thing - with this pandemic and with working from home, I've gotten to see more into the lives of my coworkers, including their kids, and hearing more from them about some of the struggles they have as parents who are literally there all the time. One in particular is having some issues with a kid that I couldn't imagine dealing with. It's given me a different insight, especially since I'm not a parent. There's just some things that, even if you're the most well-meaning person in the world, you don't get right, and just like there's not a playbook for how to deal with a pandemic, there's not one for how to deal with every kid problem. He failed, but that doesn't mean he didn't try, and I can understand better why someone may want to "hide" from reality at the office. Heck - sometimes there's just no way to win, so I'm not sure if it's even fair to say he failed. I ain't saying I like or respect the guy, just that I haven't been fair with him in this matter, and am not nearly qualified enough to have the opinion that I've expressed, and so I'm not going to pile on now. This is probably the least-BBTVish post of all time. I'm going to need to work hard to get my rep back. Cohen tweeted that he talked to the GM and he’s not being traded, but other reporters starting to say he is. That would be Eugene Robinson who, earlier that day, won the Bart Starr award for his outstanding character and leadership in the home, on the field and in the community.
