My god.  Two first-round picks and a starting-caliber QB?  Unless you think Stafford can get you a SB win in the next two seasons, that's absurd.

I haven't seen much of Stafford, but I imagine he's kinda like a Matt Ryan - very good, but not great, and not someone that's going to put a team on his back and win a bowl.

Good for the Lions.

Rams had a championship caliber defense and reasonably competent offensive pieces (aside from Goff, who was an absolute liability in big games despite the W/L record).  Stafford is reliable enough that they might be able to do it now.

What the hell is Houston going to get now - some team's next three entire drafts?

The thing I'm most upset about is how much Houston will demand for Watson. I really wish BOB was still in charge, if only so the Panthers could swing trade for Watson and Watt while only sending a first-rounder and Teddy Bridgewater.

The Rams defense beat Seattle.  The only reason his play didn't cost the Rams the game was that McVay was so terrified of that eventuality that he refused to let Goff do much.

Super Bowl year was with a good run game against Dallas and the Rams' defense buckling down against New Orleans (and getting away with one in the 4th).

Don't get me wrong, their defense played a significant part and getting rid of Goff was probably for the best. However, I feel the Rams should have went after someone other than Stafford.

I saw, I came, I left.

Considering how much he bombs at drafting, I wouldn't trust him with picks either.

Heck, if he did not care about draft picks, he should traded away five first rounders for DeShawn Watson.

Stafford's ready to go right now and probably has at least 3 good years left in the tank.  Not a super long term solution, but I'd argue the Rams don't NEED a long term solution at QB.

I wish he could have gone 1-9, personally - but I will allow for the Super Bowl being won in 2002 by the Patriots, right after 9-11. America needed that.

Why did New York and Washington need the success of a Boston team, what dog-brained thinking is this. You're not even from here.

This is really good trade for LA. They’re in win now mode, with all of their star players in their prime (including the best player in the league Aaron Donald). I felt like subpar to average QB play has been their achilles heel for the past few years and they only thing holding them back from a championship.

Stafford is still above average to top 12 in the league when healthy. Which is far better than Goff who was average/below average at best.

It’s a hefty price to pay for a QB who only has a few years left in his prime and especially for one who isn’t an elite QB, but he’s such a significant upgrade over Goff that I don’t think it matters.

I have a feeling he could end up with the Jets because they have two first rounders this year (the extra came in the Jamal Adams trade).

Also, I’m really effing glad he didn’t go to Washington lmaoo. They are stacked everywhere except QB. They have a championship caliber roster. Just missing a good QB. Kinda like the pre-2019 49ers.

Goff and a third for Stafford feels like a slight win for the Rams, because Stafford is legitimately a better quarterback than Jared Goff. But then you toss in TWO first rounders with that? The Rams sure as hell better be legitimate Super Bowl contenders next season or this feels like a total panic move.

At least Stafford is still in the NFC where they don't to go through the Chiefs. But they really need to make the Super Bowl to justify this deal. In fact, I just want to see Stafford win a playoff game first.

Personally, I think McVay could be on the hot seat if this move doesn’t pan out.

Coaching Record by Season-

• 2017: 11-5 (lost in wildcard round to Falcons, 13-26)

• 2018: 13-3 (lost in Super Bowl to Patriots, 3-13)

• 2019: 9-7 (no playoffs)

• 2020: 10-6 (lost in divisional round to Packers, 18-32)

Playoffs record: 3-3

1st Round Draft Picks as Head Coach: None.

McVay has two years with Matt Stafford to  get back to the Super Bowl and win it all. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for this move. I believe Stafford has what it takes to help bring a trophy to LA.

I have never seen the Lions do anything good ever in my entire adult life. Yes, they had Barry Sanders and Megatron, but they've otherwise been one disaster after another.

Until today! Heck of a trade Detroit. No matter what Stafford does in LA, they've fleeced the Rams. Two 1st round picks and a 3rd round and a guy who has won multiple playoff games recently?

Amazing.
