Hilarious. Dolphins fans crying online that this is what the Patriots got in trouble for like it was a Bengals spy and not some kid on his way to ECON 101. Probably because Miami fans cannot imagine a football stadium being located ON campus rather than 30 minutes away and next to a highway. For those that don't know, the stadium was built around the campus and the campus was built around the stadium. The students are able to use the stadium and field in much the same way they use the library and other school resources and it's a main thoroughfare through campus. Several academic buildings and dorms have windows that look down onto the field. I remember Sun Devil Stadium having signs up letting people know that they would be arrested for entering the stadium when there wasn’t a game or field of play basically any time. No this is very different. Its not uncommon for students to have half drunken pickup games or snowball fights on the field. Not only can you openly walk around the stadium, the many buildings and dorms surrounding look right down into the stadium. There is literally a student dinning hall named Stadium View Cafe overlooking the field. The place is one of the most public areas on campus and the Dolphins chose to have their "private" practice there. The Dolphins could have used many private facilities around Cincinnati. XU, NKU and Miami (OH) have more private athletic facilities. Several high schools would have been an option with some even having off campus facilities. Several indoor sports facilities like Wall2Wall and Town and Country could have been rented out. The Reds and FC Cincinnati were both on the road leaving Great American Ball Park, TQL Stadium and FCCs training facility (which is not open to the public) available. Hell the Dolphins could have used their hotel conference center or ballroom for makeshift practice. Instead the Dolphins chose to go to UC where they had a choice of using the completely exposed and open Nippert Stadium or they could have waited and used the Bearcats practice field on campus (Sheakley) after the Bearcats practice was over, which is still open to the public but less exposed than Nippert. During the winter Sheakley has a bubble over the field. The bubble is currently down. Really hope it isn't anything too serious. But it really does make you question what really happened to him in that Bills game, and if he should have been playing tonight. I hope like hell he’s ok, but I’m very worried for him. I’ve seen that happen with skiers and snowboarders before, and I even knew one guy who had to relearn his motor functions it was so bad. I was at the Ms game so missed TNF, so I didn't actually need to seek out video of the Tua injury -- and man I wish I didn't. That's brutal. Two concussive injuries in a week! That's the stuff that ended the careers of Steve Young and Troy Aikman, to say nothing of the worst cases. They should not have put Tua back in vs Buffalo on Sunday. They fumbled putting their practice in Cincy in a secured facility resulting in the public openly filming their "private" practice. They started Tua tonight vs the Bengals and as a result he got seriously injured. He was released from the hospital in Cincinnati and is expected to fly back with the team, when he should not be flying. Rockstar Matt Posted September 30, 2022 Share Posted September 30, 2022 It’s gross negligence on the Dolphins, NFL’s and NFLPA’s part that they allowed Tua to play today. Disgusting, honestly. We all know and understand that football is an inherently dangerous, violent game. Injuries and concussions are apart of the game, and they will unless something drastic changes, but to let Tua play today is inexcusable. It’s a true reflection of what really matters to the NFL, which is only the bottom dollar. A concussion like the one he suffered from today, only being 4 days removed from his last concussion, is highly likely to leave him with lifelong effects felt down the road and specifically CTE. He’ll be extremely lucky to not have any long-term effects from this.
